Seeing a lot of requests for 5L domains on here....

The pronouncable 5L aftermarket is looking strong

The Namepros 5L market is looking cheap

Don't sell your 5L .com domains cheap

If you own CVCVC or VCVCV patterns hold them....or get fair wholesale value....

Don't get hung up on EMD bullzhit metrics

Don't get sucked into xx sales on here...

Do review Namebio sales regularly

The aftermarket has a strong appetite for quality 5L domains don't be lulled into a quick buck

This applies to quality 5L domains....not random BS

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Total domains...

LLL = 17,576
LLLL = 456,976
LLLLL = 11,881,356

Just stick to the good stuff in 5L ones. There are too many for just random ones to have any real value.

I agree that the market looks strong, but I have not seen many 5Letter quality names for sale here on NP

Because people with quality names don't post the names for sale here as don't get quality price.

What is a quality price in a reseller market? What is a fair reseller price for a 5letter you can hope to sell between $2500-5000 to an enduser?

I have several 5L, I listed them here and received pm $20-$40 and they claimed they are resellers - Who care? I expected at least $$$ here and $,$$$ to end user.
I don't list here anymore. Just a waste of time.

@bmugford You're right mate. There seems to be scant difference in the average sale price of 4L, 6L, 7L, 8L. But the average sale price of 5L is double those other four classes. https://namebio.com.

1 L = 26 (z.com high $ 6.7m, average $ 24700)

2 LL = 676 (fb.com high $ 8.5m, average $28100)

3 LLL = 17,576 (sex.com high $ 14m, average $ 7089)
____________________________________________

4 LLLL = 456,976 (fund.com high $ 9.9m, average $ 2178)

5 LLLLL = 11,881,356 (voice.com high $ 30m, average $ 4476)

6 LLLLLL = 308,915,776 (casino.com high $ 5.5m, average $ 2822)

7 LLLLLLL = 8,031,810,176 (diamond.com high $ 7.5m, average $ 2845)

8 LLLLLLLL = 208,827,064,576 (software.com high $ 3.2m, average $ 2146)

What do you think of ToAwe.com? It might be valuable.

Short unpronounceable domains are valuable as dictionary words or when the letters are acronyms of big companies, but I'm not sure how many companies have five-word legal names.

There's a ton of rubbish out there in 5-letters, so I think the value would be in pronounceable or dictionary words.

It's all about those pronounceables...

If you search namebio for CVCVC or VCVCV patterns there is strong sales data

They make excellent Brandables that end users pay good money for and as I mentioned the Aftermarket reflects that....

For 5 letters if you take out voice.com the average sales price would drop would quite a bit.....

Even with the pronounceables, I still prefer names that are tied somehow to real words than names that have just the cvcvc pattern.

Essentially, I will pick cvcvc names like PayIQ or Monit over names like Monon or Pabon even though the latter names still look good.

I have just a few 5L domains in my portfolio

Monon is a very popular term in Indianapolis, so I would take that...but I get the point.

Five letter .COM are not inherently valuable just because they are 5 letters.

Really only LL and LLL are valuable just because they are short. I own many LLLL but you get to the point even there when a lot of the random ones will never find end users. They mainly just trade between domainers.

do you own PayIQ in .com? If so that's a keeper - the .net is developed as well which is always nice to see....

@bmugford I would take a good quality CVCVC over a random LLLL any day of the week for the reason you said.....

There is a nice thread from 2008 with a breakdown/comparison of 4 letter and 5 letter patterns - big difference in the numbers.....so as usual it's all about the quality

11,025 CVCV
11,025 VCVC
55,125 VCVCV
231,525 CVCVC

My original company name was Infad. I still own the .COM.

I just registered it back in the day because it sounded good for a tech company, and was memorable.

This data is skewed by the high value dictionary word domains. Brandables are in a different bracket

This would be better if we excluded the data for dictionary words.

And how much do you pay for such quality 5L domain names (wholesale rate)? I know it depends on the name, but approximately.

And then what is your target end user price?
