Make sure you collect email addresses, let people know you will email them when the site is updated. An email list of golf enthusiasts would be very valuable.

Also, If it was me I would not give everything away on the front page. I might set up a private membership area for some of the better video lessons and have people sign up for a free "private lessons" membership. The members will be valuable if you every decide to sell the site.

Once you have some members, I would see if you can license videos exclusively or private label existing golf videos, utilizing those videos for the private member area. The value of these videos could mean you now can charge for the private lessons area.

Both the email collection and the members roster will enable you to do some very highly targetted and valuable marketing to bring in some bucks.

Looks great!

Cheers!

Smyrna - You have done a sensational job assembling content that golfers will care about. The concept is great. You are really onto something. My suggestion is to think very seriously about your site layout, color, and range of content. There is too much green and the pixel ad thing on the right, in my opinion, does not contribute positively to your site and should go.

You have taken the .TV extension in exactly the right direction. I can promise you that this site will create consistent traffic once golfers know it exists. The list of video lessons on the left is fantastic. Congrats!

I am not a golfer but that is really a beautiful site.
Maybe you could split the lessons into categories using an ajax menu?

Good luck with your new site.

Thanks very much for your great feedbacks...

I thank you all for taking the time to write your valuable comments and suggestions. I really appreciate it. I will take into account each and every word.

First of all, I should state that I know a little bit about web designing - I'm not a pro. I am trying to improve... Also I do not know anything about web programming (planning to learn though). So, eventually I will need some professional help, but for now, I HAVE TO keep it the way it is.

Secondly, I believe in "KISS" - a common marketing principle - Keep It Simple Stupid! Sometimes WE make LIFE more complicated than it is. Too many choices make things harder. I see great sites with great flash designs, or wonderful layouts with many links and everything, but some of these sites are really tiring! When we visit a website for a purpose, we should be able to reach that easily and quickly. I don't like wasting time at a website while I'm looking for what's told it's there. Mostly we have to open many pages until we find what we're looking for, unfortunately we end up seeing some links or ads, nothing valuable - in terms of information. These are my personal opinions as an Internet user for more than 10 years. I'm trying to look at my site from a user's point of view... GolfLessons.TV contains lots of free online golf lessons, and they are there. Very easy to reach! :) Besides my limited knowledge in web designing (and no programming knowledge) I wanted to keep golflessons.tv as simple as possible, like I mentioned before ("Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler." Albert Einstein)... All the lessons are listed, golfers can see all of them at a quick glance, and can click the one they are interested in... If the number of lessons increases eventually, for example more than 200 or something, I will need to categorize them, but for now, I want golfers to see what lessons are available on the site easily. Sometimes, when I go to a website to get info, if I'm asked to become a member (even if it's free) I just close that browser! I'm so sick and tired of having tons of nick names and passwords, and creating new ones just to read some info. And again, this is a user's point of view, maybe I should look at it from website owner's point of view... In that case, yes I should create membership area, get names, email addresses, some info... I might do it in the future, but not yet... About the income source... Since the lessons are free and there is no e-commerce on the site, advertising is the only way to make money... I do not want to rely on google ads only, so I wanted to have an alternative, which is pixel advertising... I like it, and would like to keep it at the site... I will definitely try to update the site as often as I can, will add new lessons regularly.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Very well done
Bravo!

Would you care to share how long it took you to develop?
How did you design the site?

Another thing you might want to think about is growth... imagine if you keep adding lessons... it will be hard to visitors to find the lessons they are looking for? perhaps a search bar or breaking up lessons by category?

Just a thought but, as is, excellent work!

trigatch4 and Argos, thank you for the great comments and suggestions.

trigatch4,
It took me approximately 3 weeks to develop (design + content), but worked very long hours, and worked only on this site. If I were working normal office hours, and had other things to do, it would take me at least one month or more. I needed to go through all the lessons at video.google.com and youtube.com (and checked some other "video share" websites). When you type "golf lessons" at youtube or google video, the results contain many videos related to golf, not only lessons. So I had to spend a lot of time for that... I also had to watch the whole videos of the lessons before adding to the site to make sure it's a good lesson. A lesson may include more commercial than the lesson itself, or just infomercials although it says "golf lesson" as the name of the video file... Of course, those pros are giving the name of their golf schools and/or websites, that's purpose of giving free lesson, but the video should be teaching something and it should be worth watching... Including a website's address or giving the name of the school or website at the end of the lesson doesn't sound/look that bad... In short, searching and watching golf lesson videos took longer time than designing the site. Other than that, it wasn't that difficult as you can see it's a very simple layout, and I used only two iframes. No programming involved. Only html... As you suggested (and hal, too), eventually I will need to break up lessons by category as it might be hard for golfers to find the lessons they are looking for when I keep adding lessons...

Regards,

SMYRNA,

This is a serious question. Do you think you are a better golfer for watching all that video? Will it positively affect your future play? Just curious.
