You have to remember though, that the GoDaddy commercials advertise buying domains for development. At least the last one I saw did. They don't allude to the fact that you can by domains for investment purposes only to resell them later.
It's more like "Hey you need a website".. "Get your domain at GoDaddy"
Believe me there will still be a lot of clueless people out there that can't read between the lines.
Nevertheless, there will inevitably be more people coming into domains as time goes on. I think overall it will be good. You have to really know what you're doing to get any great newly regged names in .com, and they pickings grow slimmer and slimmer in the other extensions as each day passes.
That means that if you have good domains now, people will be willing to pay more to get them from you.
The downside is that once the noobs learn how to find names it means more competition for us. But, in the end, i guess there's enough to go around.
