We domainers are the set of people with so many things inside us ... let me elaborate that.

As a domainer just think what we do -
  • Some research and scan hundreds of domains every day to see what sells and what not
  • Keep track of (key)words, synonyms, acronyms and translations - so we know lot of vocabulary! That's half a language expert.
  • Many of us read latest news (subject no bar) to see whats new, be it technology, politics, sports anything ..
  • Some of us know how to market
  • Some know how to design logos - arts
  • Many know how to build websites - programmers
  • Some know almost every aspect of webhosting and technologies
  • We need to know payment systems, escrows and what not ..
  • Fx rates, bits of world economics
  • We learn dealing with people with different cultures and background
  • We learn where to put money and where not to - smart investments
  • We keep stats, records, ROIs and what not
  • We know where to get cheapest web properties, Whois reliable and whois flexible
  • We are the people who always try to associate or find if a .com ( other exts too) for a new word, number or a combination that we see/hear
In short you are one of busiest people in town. Hats if to you my friends! And best part is everyone's learning never stops!!

Godaddy's advt says a dot is where it starts, for us, the search never ends to get what can go well before that .(dot)!

Love domaining :)

Totally agree its a very fun business, you run your own show and make a lot of money, No big investment needed any one can start from small and get big , very big. Only matter of time and effort and don't forget right choices.

Thanks.

Nice. I still imagine many domainers are part-time rather than living comfortably off domaining full time.

I agree that domaining is a busy pursuit.

Personally, I find the most time-consuming aspect of it to be looking over lists of pending delete and expiring (GD, NameJet) domains daily.

Very nice post and very descriptive of the 'duties' we domainers undertake as part of our occupation (full- or part-time).

Excellent post, want to add one more point
- How to develop/monetize domains until they get sold for desired amount :)

Another time-consuming aspect: staying up to date on all the threads I'm following on NamePros!

The domainers makes this business go around, move forward and standing tall. Domainers brings talents, ideas, creativities and investments; to the domain industry. Domainers, played a major rule of making the way it is now. Just a thought.
