Am I getting old and senile? ...... perhaps yes, but this is the first time I have noticed sales of 10% on my renewals at godaddy? ..... Has anyone just noticed this or is it just now more visible than before and I have perhaps never noticed it before? The Australian dollar is up a little but lately ....... I was expecting a little cheaper, not a little dearer?? Any views or news on this ..

It appears that GoDaddy is now charging tax in certain countries, all taxes they collect will be submitted to the local tax agency as stated by them when I enquired ,I also noticed that and it can get expensive when you buying at auctions ,you now have to factor in the tax cost with your budget.

There are enough business entities trying to screw us over in the "real world" just more cost means we need to assess our portfolios and drop the weaker name or ..... TRANSFER OUT

@DnEbook your lucky, If you know people like me are charged 18% tax on domain + Auction. Really Godaddy have to move Auction business as separate entity and operate from tax free region like singapore.

I absolutely agree ,the tax situation has been throwing my budget off ,I have changed spending habits at go daddy ,and registering elsewhere and also purchasing from different auction formats .

Yeah the huge tax and fees being added to the already over the top .com renewal price is now making buying from GoDaddy auctions/close outs/expired unrealistic.

I think GoDaddy has priced itself out of the market for domainers and is just focusing on users with one or two domains, who are more likely to put up with the crazy price hikes.

We did start charging taxes in Australia on the auctions. We do not like to collect taxes and no one likes to pay them. When we collect them we have to hire extra lawyers and accountants etc. We only do what the laws demand of us. There have been consistent changes with Internet purchases being taxable over the past several years and unfortunately it looks as if that trend will continue. I am sure other companies will follow suit as it is a legal requirement we have to abide by. If you think you are paying taxes in error you can contact us and we can investigate an order further. You can also contact your local accountant and see if you are eligible for any tax refund on taxes you have paid to us or other companies. If you are in Europe you can enter a VAT tax ID into your account if you have one and not have to pay taxes when you check out.
