GoDaddy Reseller FAIL.

I left my business unattended for 2 weeks. That's always a risk!

My Reseller account with Wild West Domains / GoDaddy was so old it used an email address I don't check as much as I should.

I missed two emails that said Product Failed Billing Notification.

The only thing wrong was that my Credit Card expiry needed updating...

And then my account was deleted, and customers transferred to what I can only presume is GoDaddy's - Domains Priced Right.

9 Years of business, and I don't even get a call from my account manager to let me know I am about to lose it.

Now I have hundreds of domains to transfer to avoiding paying full GoDaddy price. And my poor customers - none of whom I know personally - who likely only used EzyAddress because I kept the prices at the lowest the system would let me (roughly equal to the DDC price), will now feel like they have been duped.

Apologies for any inconveniences - it was truly unintentional.

that sucks but something like that should really be renewed well in advance. i don't see why godaddy doesn't let people pay within a 30 day window or something to have everything restored though.

You would think they would have a grace period for this type of thing. But then again in business especially with godaddy they will cut a throat for a few dollars. hence why they allow your domains to be purchased with discount codes with a credit card. They hope on auto renew you will forget the names crap and they charge you automatically. If your not careful godaddy is pretty shady in areas. this is why I dont mind people with 8 different accounts using there codes and making bank off them.

call them and have it reinstated !

I vaguely remember hearing that this can be done.

So I phoned them at my account manager's suggestion, and it seems that this in an email:

NOTE: Once an item has been cancelled, all related data โ€“ website files, emails, databases, etc. โ€“ is removed from our server and cannot be recovered.

is code for:

just call us we will happily reinstate everything and give you a 45% discount on your annual fee.

Crazy company!

all that sounds like webhosting stuff. all you needed was a little X in a form (reactivate)

I was going to ask if that meant it was back on, but I checked your website and it is active again.

discount on the annual fee is likely because you make money for them. since you've been doing it for years and have hundreds of domains there. if you have any sub-resellers, you might want to verify that they were returned to you.

congrats? welcome back? things weren't the same without your website. haha.

My typical rule is that any domains that are precious to me, or might have legal issues, are kept at NameCheap. The rest at GoDaddy / EzyAddress, purely to save money.

The $99 instead of $179 Pro Reseller deal seemed to be automatically triggered when my payment was overdue. Given that reactivation is possible, this could be a risky but profitable way of getting a discount.
