I have a name at godady. It expired Aug5 and I thought we had like 45 days to renew it. I got an email today and it says if I don't renew by Aug16 there will be a C$103.99 redemption fee. Thats 10 days.
The exact wording is below, is this new or has it been like this for a while?

Final reminder:

It's GoDaddy scare tactics and also misleading.

You still have 18 days from expiration to renew. I'd suggest not cutting it too close, even though you can still transfer out some days following.

45 days to renew, no.

You don't need to pay $80USD redemption fee within 18days grace period.

Your domain status will remain as "Active" till 12days after expiry.

After 12days to 18days status will be "Expired Renewable". (No need to pay redemption fee. Regular renewal fee applicable)

After 18days to 45days status will be "Expired Recoverable". (You have to pay $80 redemption fee to recover)

You can transfer out your domain within 42days after expiry. (Regular transfer fee will be applicable)

Did you get the numerous emails that the domain was going to expire months prior? Why don't you have the domain on automatic renew? Is this domain important to you?
