I have pre-registered some of the new gTLD through GoDaddy and when they open up the general registration for the domain this morning they did not run my pre-orders!

Basically the registration was open at 9am Pacific Time and while in the past I would receive confirmation right aound that time today I got no emails so around 9:15am I went and check the availability for all those domains I pre-registered and to my surprise they were all available for general registration.

After waiting for a brief moment I decided to call GoDaddy and obviously I was on hold for about 10min before I got to talk to one of the reps. When I explained the situation, he put me on hold, then we we got disconnected (basically hangup on me) just to receive a call back around 9:55 to inform me that they were only able to secure some of the domains I was interested in.

Well, my mistake was not to call immediately at 9am and perhaps I should have paid for all the domains again when I saw them available for registration and deal with refunds later.

Lesson Learned!

You guys be careful when using GoDaddy for pre-registration!

lesson is that few people care about those very names you felt are important to pre reg

remember, quickest way to make money with the new gld's is to stop renewing them

good luck

Sure thing people dont care about them, thats why all those domains were snapped right away and in general all the good domains are gone for every gTLD.

BTW Most of those domains were for personal projects not for re-sale thats why I'm pissed.

personal projects that will never happen, most good .com domains have yet to be developed let alone the gld's

they where snapped up courtesy of hype, like i said the sooner you stop renewing the sooner you start making money, nothing personal but why throw money in trash

This happened to me also but it's no biggy.

What happened is someone registered the names before you. The names can still be reg'd by people but they get taken away. It's an odd issue where names that are pre reg'd dont get taken out of the mix in time. I have reg'd 10 names that were already pre reg'd and i got error messages and my $ returned.

A couple i saw i could reg after i pre reg'd them, i reg'd again but because i actually won it in pre reg godaddy gave me back my 2nd reg $.

These minor glitches are frustrating because your $ gets tied up for a day or so.

no big woof though....

Most of those domains I wanted are gone for good but 4 went into auction so I will have a chance to bid on those. One of those I really want for an easy project so I will bid on that one for sure and the other three I will try my luck with some modest bid.

Hopefully they can get their crap together soon as some more attractive domains are coming and I may be trying my luck with a few more.

No surprise as Godaddy stinks at backordering too. I would recommend pre-registering at a different registrar. Better yet, develop the ones you have and wait until the drops next year especially if any of these go to auction.
