Pre-register question

Hello NPers,

I was just wondering a couple things about the pre-registration process...

1. Why is there a check to see if the domain is availible when more then one person can pre-register it?

2. I am from Holland but am currently in Canada... how will that work if they try to contact me with the Dutch contact info I was required to submit?

3. What is the deal with trademarked names? Some domains I pre-registered I would think are trademarked... how will I findout if they are or not?

1. it makes it easier for the company otherwise they will have several applications for 1 domain, and if you preordered ***.eu from a company that someone had already preordered ***.eu, you are probally going to loose out on the reg staright away, as they have got there first, so it makes it easier by saying someone has already preorded from here.

thanks vooddorin, I guess what I mean though is why have more then one pre-registration period? Is it to insure register 2,3,4,etc are next in line incase register 1 does get aproved? With .com for example there is only one at a time, the domain is either availible or it's not but it won't let multiple people try and register it.
