Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

GoDaddy is Terrible (but ok if you have just 1 or 2 domains or a newbie)

I made a big error in recently moving a number of domains to GD. Constant bugs and problems and their interface is clunky, error prone, way too much annoying upselling, confusing or hard to use and overall bad. Most every day I encounter various errors when doing misc things.

Such as errors with masked vs unmasked forwarding, 301 or 302 errors, constant issues and bugs using bulk features, bugs in setting up bulk auction listings, bulk changing whois errors, contact information errors, email verification emails not working, changing nameserver issues, 60-day locks reimposed even after original 60-day lock expired over a minor change to whois, and support people who seem friendly and act nice but are really uninformed and usually cannot fix issues and refuse to allow calls to be elevated to upper level support, etc. Can't wait to transfer my names away from GoDaddy asap.

they are the biggest registrar.. most users and registrations.. and probably not by a little bit... so I guess they must be doing something right.. I personally try to use them for as many domains as I can but only because 90% of all my domain sales since I started to domain in 2015 happen to occur through gd auctions.. and its easier to push to buyer if domain resides on gd... and if you do push it (vs transfer) then you only wait few days for payment.. versus the 21+ days waitng otherwise.

otherwise, unless you pay for domain club, their renewal/reg prices are beyond awful... the interface is slow and mostly awkward.. and the average rep there has a strangely unprofessional approach to people... unless you end up with a personalized premium accnt manager.. my rating of them also went down when they took liberty to block transfer outs of expired domains after 30 days. from the 40 it was before. I do praise Joe Styler though for his consistently great help on np.

other than this.. no registrar is perfect.. so we just have to get used to each registrars imperfections I guess.

cheers

Doing something right is not the same as doing the right thing :-P

That's unusual, but great if it continues to work out for you. Except for the fact you're constantly donating 20% of your profits to GD.

well its either a 20% donation and a sale... or no donation and no sale...the choice is a nobrainer ...hehe.. for anyone with a brain.. i like to think ive a brain heh

I've used them for many years but the problems get worse. Here is one example, a name I cannot do much with because every time I try I get this error:

I'll be lucky if I can transfer this out before it's too late.

This. I prefer NameSilo but GoDaddy has its advantages.

You're right about the bugginess, especially on mobile.

Recently I'm seeing domains that are pending transfer OUT are only being displayed as "transfer-in". Strange and kind of suspect.
