I have been using Godaddy with the currency set to Japanese yen, and recently noticed that .com renewal prices have gone up considerably, well over $1 what they were.
After some fiddling, I realized that by changing my currency back to USD, I was back at the usual .com renewal rate, over a dollar a name cheaper than the rate given for yen. It goes through Paypal's conversion - which isn't a great rate either, but at least not the completely skewed exchange rate GD is using.
So, it's worth keeping an eye on what Godaddy is charging if you are not seeing the prices in USD. Or, to make it easier, just set your currency preference to US dollars.
Don't know whether this was intentional of not on GD's part, but I have run into a number of other issues where they try to slip in the extra odd charge (such as a default 2-year setting on renewals that has to manually changed for each name during check-out).
