GoDaddy Expired Auction Traffic Stats

I've bought about 50 names from the GoDaddy Expired Auctions and have found their traffic number to be fairly accurate for those names.

However, there is a name I am looking to bid on that is showing 0 for traffic. This is a previously built website that was at one time fairly heavily trafficked, has a solid link profile, has an Alexa rank of 4,000,000, Compete rank of 500,000, and by my estimates should be getting over 400 visitors a month in type in traffic alone.

Because the domain has a solid name in itself, it already has multiple bids, but how high I am willing to go on the name does depend on the traffic to a large degree.

Has anyone ever bought a name from the GD Expired Auction that showed 0 as the stat and discovered that the name actually delivers good traffic?

Thanks

Well yes I have. Well reasonable traffic. But I have found those stats to be highly unreliable.

The first question I'd ask is it it banned by Google.

@Main there's a delay in Godaddy's traffic stats. But I would be careful if stats don't change in a few days.

Thanks, it is still showing up as 0 with less than a day to go. Google banning this name could be a concern, but I find it highly unlikely the traffic would be 0 over 30 days with this name's link profile and type in data I have that would have no effect by Google and what my other data is telling me. I want to believe GoDaddy is wrong in this case. We'll see. I think I will tread lightly.

The domain I was going to bid on was potspace.com. It ended up closing at $10,003. I just find it hard to believe that name could show 0 in the traffic stat all the way till the end of the auction. The day before the auction it even had over 300 views.

Mass hallucination (excuse the pun).

The lemmings have jumped off the hill, and one got stuck with a huge bill and a mediocre domain.

Hey stub, no way! My max on it was going to be around $700 and then it exploded. 3 different bidders bid at least $3,000.

It was a social networking site that started back in the myspace era. It had activity on Flippa and may have sold for quite a bit of money. See links below.

There is definitely a legit link profile and it seemed to be a real site with real users. And it should be getting several hundred direct type ins a month. That's why I was surprised that the traffic stat on GD was 0.

I couldn't justify going higher because of my doubts about the traffic.

I agree with Ms Domainer. The lunatics have taken over the asylum :)

The traffic stats do NOT appear in expired auctions on GoDaddy for me anymore. Can anyone confirm? Did GoDaddy do away with displaying the stats intentionally?

Ive recently found out, there are some paid tools (the good friend from some other forum told me), which give you 50-150 accuracy in traffic statistics. I am using those to verify the traffic. Otherwise its just a joke and you are gambling with your money.

What do you mean by 50-150?

It could be half or twice as much but in these limits. I guess they have sort of internal standards method. Themselves are visiting the domain by automatic software and monitor the rankings by proved service. Hope that helped.

....and please stop sending private msgs concerning this topic...

i have few names from godaddy auction which showed 40 50 visitors per month...but ended up with 3000 4000 visitors per month... and which is almost the same since more than a year now...and they are my top earners...

similary i have names which showed 300 500 per month visitors but after buying ended up with less than 10 20 visitors per month...

so gaddy stats may not be accurate in some cases...

The traffic stats provided by Godaddy are incredibly unreliable. Normally they overestimate and I would guess that they do not filter out spider traffic.

I purchased domain at GD expired auctions and it has traffic of around 100 per day. According to GoDaddys data before purchase it should have around 800 per day, but I am still satisfied since traffic is mostly from U.S. and the name is solid. I have it more than 30 days and so far so good.
