Traffic stats questions

I've got a bit of a newbie question that I'd appreciate some help with---

I recently purchased a DN via a godaddy auction based on the name itself, as well as what seemed to be great traffic stats (30k+ pv/month). LIke most newbies i seem to be learning through mistakes...

anyway, my question--i parked the name at parked.com, and was quickly getting about 1000 pv/day with a tiny ctr....moved this to google adsense and noticed immediately that the traffic stats had dwindled to about a tenth of what they had been. i'm wondering, does g count traffic differently that parked? according to parked, most of the traffic was from china....could this be "fake" traffic, and if so, would someone mind giving me some color on how traffic can be "fake"? any thoughts are welcomed.

Fake traffic can come through "bots", but as you said, a newbie mistake, the stats that GD provide for traffic are unreliable at the least.

Hope you made enough from your parking to at least cover your cost of acquisition!

At parked was the traffic showing as 404 traffic or regular traffic?

I think you better do some research on the domain name. With that type of traffic your domain should ranked well in ALEXA (both International & Local in China). And don't forget to use Google Keyword Search Tool to analyze the searches of the domain (with extension) per month to check if it actually gets that huge amount of traffic.

If your domain qualify on these tools, then I think the BOT issue is not the problem. Maybe just because Parked.com still not optimized for Asian traffic, like from China.

All parking companies count traffic different. Some people redirect traffic from other domains to one domain, to make the domain look worth more money and after the sale they slow reduce the traffic and send it to the next domain.

It can also be that the traffic simply went down, because backlinks (especially paid once) disappeared or the domain was blocked in China.
