My domain name only costed approx $6.95 + $1.95 private when I first registered my domain name last year through GoDaddy.

The fees to renew through GoDaddy:
$9.20 registration + $8.99 private

What are my other options for $10/domain including privacy?

I am sure someone else will explaon DNOA better,
about GD....
its a great place for newbies to start, and I am sure manhy have started there.
Other than that, stay away if you are a seriously into domains.
GD is for the casual user, not for the wholesale dealer.
Moniker is IMHO the best in the market at this moment, although I own a very small percentage of my domains there because of a CC problem (outside the US that was caused a few years ago and is now solved).
Regardless, I can not stress how much I think Moniker is above the rest.
The definitive registrar to avoid (and I can back it up If provoked by them) is regfly.

What exactly made you come to this conclusion.
Just asking :) Is it solely based on renewal fees and transfer fees? Or are there other factors in play as well?

Are there any GoDaddy coupon codes that can be used on renewals?

many factors.
but it is not a "bad" thing. Their business model is pro beginners.
it is what they want. it is their market.
the factors are many.
GD is great for beginners.

wait until they renew your .info's for like $9+ something....
not to mention their cryptic interface with the amazing mazes which makes the author of the Davinci Code look like an amateur.............

Could you be more concise please? What factors apart from renewal and transfer fees are there involved?
You make me curious and i would appreciate if you or someone else took some time to explain :) We all want to advance you know ;)

apart from the major factors you mention.

1) unsupported C&D. They can stop you because they feel like it. you like that?
2) the interface for managing multiple domains is disastrous...
try managing 1000 domains at GD.... HOPELESS.....
the interface is annoying even when you get to the 'expert mode'.
.....

5)
support is non existent.
you want support as an example? try Moniker, or even Enom.

The owner of GD is politically motivated (IMHO)....
look, the list goes on, I said my share. I am not going to get into an argument about it. Take the advice or leave it :)

Thanks Fancube! :)

I am not looking for an argument Seeker. Just inquiring ;) You made some interesting points and i'm glad you pointed them out.

BTW, what is C&D? Are you refering to Cease and Dissist letters?

yes.
actually worst.
GD has a practice of 'switching you off' at the slightest hint of trouble, wether it is yours or not.
just search the archives.

Just use Namecheap.

if you use the GD quickblog loophole and you register or renew 3 names, then the private registration is free and the cost of each privately registered domain costs $5.23 each.

Can you please provide more info on this loophole?
