GoDaddy, Domain Transfer Question

I am tranfering all of my domains from Godaddy to some other registrars. Most of the domains are expiring withing 60 days. I want to delay the transfer as much as possible. How much minimum time to expiry is required to transfer the domain from Godaddy to any other registrar?

I would start a minimum of 5-7 days before expiry just to be on the safe side even though it is possible to transfer the day before and sometimes even after expiry.
