Just noticed godaddy is $12.99 for .us now,

Also noticed they took .us away from the list,

when you type in a name it comes up,

.com / .net / .org / .biz / .tv / .mobi / .info

And no .us,

Are they trying to tell us something ?

I have 400 or so .us names at godaddy.com, i think it's time to move :)

if they stay at that price it will cost me $5000 + to renew them (without any codes) before $2700 or near enough.

Name.com is cheaper than Moniker, and they are reliable. I have been using Name.com since 2005.

Name.com accepts credit cards and PayPal. Easy to use control panel.

.US names are only $7.99/Yr without any promo codes.

For a limited time,
.COM/.NET/.ORG - $5.99
.US/.BIZ/.WS - $7.99

Reps appreciated! :)

Without any promo codes, Name.com is cheaper than Moniker.

Moniker charges $9.xx for new .us registrations.

Transfer your names to Name.com for only $5.99!

.COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .NAME, .BIZ, .US - $5.99

Wow, this is terrible news for the extension from an end-user visibility standpoint. They seem to have dropped .biz too from the default chart, and now charge $14.99 (!) for that extension. When I type in a name, I get com/info/mobi/net/org/tv at the top in that order, and they do offer .us, .biz, .ws, and .name down below in the "more options" section.

I could understand only including com/net/org in the chart. But if they are going to include .mobi and .tv, they should damn well include .us. Especially for a company like GoDaddy that often markets its patriotism by sending "support our troops" emails, etc.

I hope they are just experimenting and will restore .US and restore a decent price for .US. We should let GoDaddy know how we feel about this. I'm going to mail [email protected] and also my executive account manager there. Maybe we should post on BobParsons.Com too.

.us is not subject to regulation by ICANN so there is no additional ICANN fee collected as there is for .com.

It looks like moniker might get some of my names then :)

Anyone know why the price hike and removal of the .us from the default extensions ?

they have almost doubled there price overnight.

.us are showing up at $8.99 on their homepage and when I login and go to renew, the price goes down to $6.99. Not sure where the $14.99 is coming in....

Fonz -- maybe you have a special pricing account with GoDaddy? Log out of your account, then go to the front page of godaddy.com and put in something like asdfasdfds.us. I just tried this and it still shows $12.99. In addition, if you just try asdfasdfds and leave the default "com" extension, it only shows the choices of com/info/mobi/net/org/tv up top. .Us is still shown with .ws, .name, and .biz down below in the "more options" section.

Or do you get something different when you try this?

Not sure if I have special pricing, but I typed in adafdafdadfsa.us and it showed the domain available for $8.99 (and that was before I logged into my account). Renewals in my account for .us are at $6.99 right now. Not sure where the different amounts ($8.99 versus $12.99) are coming from.

Without logging into my account it is showing $8.99 here... Fonz and I are in the US - you guys?

That was my only idea as to the possible price difference.

I do not, however, have .us available as one of the "front page" options by default - on that part I do see the same thing.

$12.99

I just tried to reg blabberblabber.us at Godaddy, without logging in to my account. $12.99.

Then I logged in to my account and tried to reg blabbersblabbers.us, still $12.99.

I only have about 35 .us names at Godaddy.

Isn't Godaddy less likely to become another Regfly than the others?

When I go to that page it shows up as $8.99. Weird... Maybe they are tracking IP addresses and people in different areas of the world get different prices.

Not like that. I think cookies are the factors.

Log out of your GD account and clear your cookies. Now close all active browser windows. Now try to access the GD home page, and search for any .us name.

I was getting the $12.99 price too when I tested it today.

I am in the US.

But there is a coupon code that will give you a $6.79 price.

Patrick

I regged 6 domains today using the code.

Coupon Code for $6.79 .US domain reg: cjcbentld
