.us Italian Company Targets US Market With CoolStreaming.us

I expect we'll see more real use of the .US extension in the near future.

Right now an Italian compamy is targeting the US market with a video sharing and TV broadcasting site called: CoolStreaming.us.

They also own CoolStreaming.it but that redirects to the .us site(at least
here in America).

If they don't have a bonafide USA presence,they could possibly run into problems with the .US Registry.

That would be a shame since this is real use of the .US extension.

They also need to fix up the Who Is info before someone complains.

They also own the .BIZ version which was registered at the same time but the Who Is there is okay.

They've got their original domain (coolstreaming.it) shut down by italian police due to pressures from SKY, the broadcasting company (they were telling people how to watch soccer matches using chinese p2p softwares). SKY filed a lawsuit, but with user's help they got a lawyer and win the case. The site was reactivated and they decided to move server and domain name abroad, where italian authorities dosen't have a direct control on them. end of the story.

Thanks for the additional insight.

The real reason I reported that info was to highlight a company
using the .US namespace for a real bonafide business.

I think it's important and bodes well for the future of .US.
