GoDaddy auctions (High Alexa but lots of traffic @ GoDaddy)

Hi

I am hoping someone will help me to understand this

Say there is a domain that is in the godaddy auctions

Godaddy says its gets

80,000 hits but the alexa is like 1600000

Where does godaddy get the stats from, is it from when it was parked with them or what?

Are those the stats collected by godaddy when it was parked with them and is it like monthly stat figures ?

Any ideas please

Go Daddy says its hits they have monitored that includes impressions, they say hits not unique visitors while they have it parked on their servers, but they guarantee no traffic.

The other point only focus on Expired auctions on Public Auctions even Go Daddy knows their members are pumping that traffic up.

I won't say they are useless. There are two types of auctions on Go Daddy, expired and public, Paul Nicks himself as told me they know that on the public auction that someone starts an auction and sends bot traffic at the parked page.

I have purchased expired auctions where sometimes the traffic was there and others where it was not. I won AnywhereTV.com which Go Daddy said had 300 hits and the name had traffic of that much and sometimes more.

MyBalletShoes.com it said had 35 hits and has never had more than 1 unique a month.

Alexa traffic estimates are bs. You can calculate more accurate estimates based on Alexa's data, if you know what you're doing, but generally I wouldn't trust Alexa.

I wouldn't buy into the numbers totally. You can use them as a good guideline to differentiate which domains are more popular than others. It at least gives you another measurable to use.
