If you happened to buy a domain at GoDaddy that reads "Domain Transaction Assured" and the domain is registered with GoDaddy only, can GoDaddy or the seller refuse to transfer the domain?

I can understand since the registrar is GoDaddy, they may forcibly complete the transaction by moving it to your account.

But let's just say the seller ends up with some excuses to GoDaddy, like "I didn't list it for sale", like "it was listed at that price by mistake", like "someone else listed it", would GoDaddy allow them to keep the domain even though it says "Domain Transaction Assured"?

Anyone has prior experience on this?

Has your first example happened to you? Otherwise I might infer that you consider your purchase maybe too good to be true.

Or if not, the transaction/transfer should complete. You'll need to wait a bit, on the sixth day your purchased domain should be in your account (best case scenario).

GoDaddy will always have the option to cancel a sale, per their TOS.

I have purchased many times from them, just that this one looks like a good one.
Will just have to wait it out to see what happens. :)

I realize this is an old thread, but instead of creating a new one I figured it's worth rekindling.

I just purchased a name a few days ago and saw that notice saying "transaction assured." Godaddy just informed me the seller is "not ready to go through with the transaction" - so they cancelled the transaction.

How can a company make such guarantees when in fact they have no way of backing up that promise?

@NameTurtle I asked them that exact same question when this happened to me. Here's what their rep wrote:

* * *

The term "Transaction Assured", by definition, is a guarantee that we will either provide the good or service; or process a full refund if unable to fulfill said good or service. As we were unable to provide the domain name, the transaction was fully refunded. Action has been taken against the seller for violating the Terms of Service in failing to provide the domain name.

yes of course seller can refuse to sell the domain... on any auction site.

but he can only refuse it one time at godaddy.

most sellers get banned for first time. if they are good and make a lot of sales, gd may offer them 2-3 strikes for this... and assuming they can demonstrate in some logical way it was a mistake (missing zero etc).. rather than a simple change of mind

either way, depending on how good seller you are on gd (how mucch $$$ you make), you can only get away with couple refusals. in most cases, 1 only.

cheers
