Wondering if anyone can provide some guidance on the relative value of geodomain dot coms that are comprised of the city+2 letter state abbreviation vs. pure city name dot coms.

For example, say there's a small city named Spaceville, California, population 50,000.

If "spaceville.com" is worth $20K, what would "spacevilleca.com" be worth?

Additional facts: assume we know that "spaceville.com" has 5,000 visits each month vs. 250 visits for "spacevilleca.com"

What would be a fair price for "spacevilleca.com" ?

There is already a large network of sites that have this pattern and similar patterns. Check this out: http://www.citiesunlimited.com/

Individually the names are regfee, but in a network like this one... oh baby!

methamis -- Thanks for the link. If you checkout the urls of CitiesUnlimited, though, very few of them are pure city dot coms or even city+state abbrev. dot coms. Most pure city dot coms are long gone - and those that are for sale are pretty pricey, and there are very few city+state abbreviation dot coms available for reg fees in the 50,000+ population category.

However, the difference in type in traffic for city dot coms vs. city+LL state abbreviation is pretty surprising. Simply because of those two letters at the end, in the case of the "spacevilleca.com" example, the type in traffic is only 5% of the pure dot com -- but that still amounts to 250 per month.

Based solely on traffic, if the pure dot com is $20K, then the other should be worth 5% of that, or $1000 in this case. However, as the owner of several of these domains, (obviously, because I own them, I think they're worth more!) I'm reluctant to sell them for any less because of the skyrocketing values of the pure city dot coms. Your thoughts?

If the most recent geodomain auction was any indication on the perceived value of GEO domains, the rule for GEOs valuations is on a big sliding scale (as with most pure generic vs. generics + affixes)... I can't imagine that city+biz domains are very different form the city+stateabbrev names...

Thanks again metamethis.

I would also appreciate anyone else's take on this -- whether similar or different.
