Chicago.com

Add an "s" and now it becomes posessive - Chicagos.com
It is Chicago's dot com.

Any thoughts as to the value of adding a posessive "s"...

Similar value?
Incredibly worse value?

But still...It has to be better than the singular .net, right???

Just thinking here.
What do you think???

I think it's been a long standing view that an improperly used "s" can kill the value of any domain.

I've never developed one, it might do ok in the search engines...risky buy for resellers but it's worth a shot, I sold Scotlands.org for $60 this year.

Do you have any examples of a improperly used s?
I could see an improperly placed s in a word that ends in s...
like Illinois. You can't add an s to that without it looking awful and incorrect, but I am not so sure that is what you are speaking of.

and while I am still writing here,
Wouldn't you want Chicagos.com rather than Chicago.net?
or is that just me, lol.

call me crazy but I like chicago.net over chicagos.com just because its the pure search, but either plural name would be a great geo forum name IMO.

Instead of me giving you examples, try this one on... Find me an example of any half-popular site that uses an "s" at the end in a possessive manner. The only site I can think of that even uses a possessive in any capacity is craigslist, but honestly, I'm not really sure how craigslist became popular in the first place. I'm sure it had something to do with sex classifieds or something. :) Regardless, when it comes to the Interwebs, using possessives, especially at the end, is just historically proven not to be semantic.

I mean, you can reg and develop any domain and with the right content and promotion, it can become popular... However, from a domaining standpoint, I don't think you'd find a lot of buyers rushing to buy Chicagos.com over Chicago.net. I'm also not a big fan of .net though. :)
