It was cool to see a GoDaddy commercial @ the 2 minute warning. If you caught it, you would have seen Bob Parsons with some babes... $1.99 .com's? Where is that deal?

Prince's Purple Rain was sooooo cool... :xf.love:

Hope your team won. :$:

I was not very impressed by their ad to be honest...

I saw their first ad and I thought it was pretty lame. Not only would 1/2 the audience not know what the heck they were selling, but the commerical again was congruent with the smutty GD style. Notwithstanding the other reasons I don't like GD, their commericals don't give me much motivation to give them any business.

You can see it on the front page;

Products must be new to the customer (not currently owned) to qualify. One 1 yr $1.99* .com, .us, .biz, .info, .name, .net, or .org domain per each qualifying product; new, transfer or renewal. Recurring billing charges, existing product, domain renewals, domain backorders and domain registration products (such as Privacy, Business Registration, Certified Domain, Domain Ownership Protection and CashParking), Gift Cards, photo prints and merchandise, and some "add-on" companion products (such as additional hosting bandwidth and storage) do not qualify as product purchases. Only qualifying domain names included in qualifying purchases are subject to discount.

I thought the GoDaddy ad was.. interesting? :D Could have been a lot better though.

Wouldn't they rather put like 1 million dollars into some more effective advertising?

How about 1 dollar domains? They'd sell off 1 million domains for a dollar. They'd make more than that back the next year, once renewal time comes. And only 1 out of every 10 approx people would need to renew inorder to make their money back.

Let's face it. GD not the smartest company in terms of marketing.

I get the impression Parsons wishes he was Hefner about 40 years ago.

Just a side note, I heard this year a 30 sec commercial during the super bowl was selling for 2.6 million :o

I saw their commercial three times, at 2.4 Million for each 30 second commercial I would have thought they could have at the very least placed a twist on the โ€œEverybody wants to work marketingโ€ idea for the final spot. I did however liked that they incorporated Danica Patrick and the Teutulโ€™s in it but a clever ending for the third commercial could have made it more memorable.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

Agreed! I like the "buck a domain" idea! Makes much more sense to do that. The SB commercial was just a feather in Bob's cap. He is looking for IPO funding and thought this was a good venue for some publicity. He needs to look to the folks that put him in this position in the first place and spend the money building up GD.

For a small percent of what he spent @ SB he could have gained a lot of loyal customers if it were spent @ NP:imho:

no doubt ...

i mean the guy is spending millions (to market domain registrations no less) using hot chicks, midgets, music and champagne

I dont like GD but what they are doing in the Superbowl is brilliant!
Their first target is to be a leader brand in Domain business and thats worth millions.
If you are not lookin in the short term , you'll pick your fruits in the long run.
I dont enter to their last ads ideas...I think they were not great , but if your there you are live and kicking.

It was an obvious attempt to be as provoking as possible while still complying with the moral standards that CBS has put in place for this year's Bowl. GD had a lot to catch up in expectation, skin, meat, suggestive topics, etc.
Have you seen the word domains in there? Nope?? Well, it's because the GD spots were off topic, senseless, geared towards their own marketing department, which obviously signed off on a shitty commercial production.
So, anyone that wants to work there? Yeah, maybe after the day has come where Parson & Co. remembers who made them this big. Which was neither Danica, the Teutuls or the rest of the Larry Flint style approach they've taken.
Don't get me wrong here, i don't mind provocative commercials, i actually encourage them. Just, if you do them and broadcast them at the sports even of the year, put a little more thought into it. This was just horrible and for any person that carries the intellect of a Wendy's sandwich, it should almost be considered an insult.

Then again, it may have all just been a well concealed plot to divert from the TDNAM fiasco.... ;)

I didnt think the commercial was the best. But i still like the idea and the fact that godaddy had a commercial. Also that was NOT Bob Parsons in the commercial, at least the one i saw.

i wasnt impressed- godaddy is looking a bit more unprofessional every day- i am with them, and just hate the thought of moving 600 domains- and they have not done wrong by me yet- but it is almost embarrassing these days to say your with godaddy- do you have a good product or not? then why use t&a to sell it ;-(

Go to Moniker. They will give you $6.95 pricing and completely handle all of your transfers. You don't need to spend the time getting EPP codes--they will do all of this for you. Just contact Don Lyons (member here at NP). He is my rep and I've been impressed with the level of service he has given me.

A large portion of the population (that actually knows about domains and the domaining industry) believes domainers are scammers and squatters. Parson's smutty ads do little to positively impact the reputation of domainers and combat these misperceptions about us (Yes, some domainers are scammers and squatters, but I'd hope most of us are not).

Domainers, regardless of whether they are GD customers, are now increasingly linked with a company that has poor taste.
