It seems as though most visitors to the .US section of this forum believe as I do in the future potential of the .US domain extension, especially for good generic and keyword terms. But what about other language terms in the .US extension? Specifically, what do you think about the future of generic Spanish terms in the .US extension?

For example, I have the following Spanish-term .US names:

Aborto (abortion)
Actividades (activities)
CincoDeMayo and Cinco-De-Mayo (5th of May)
Consultor (consultant)
Contrato (contract)
Edificio (building)
Familiares (relatives)
Laborales (labor)
Optica (optics)
Prescripcion (prescription)
Profesion (profession)
Vacunacion (vaccination)

My thoughts are that the growing ranks of Spanish speaking citizens and immigrants in the US will continue to provide a fast growing market for goods and services. This should benefit both brick-and-mortar and on-line suppliers.

While learning and becoming proficient in English will obviously benefit natural Spanish-speaking people living in the USA (offering more opportunities and higher wages to them in the long run) it takes time to learn a new language and assimilate. So entire communities will need to support and provide goods and services to Spanish-only constuituents for some time to come. I think that websites using dot US domains of spanish terms can help bridge that gap.

What do you think about the future use and/or value of these names?

Do you have any one-word generic Spanish .US names of goods and services?

Better yet do you have any developed websites using .US Spanish-term domains?

I would not be surprised if Spanish overtakes English in 50 years or less. Spanish has been gaining ground and the US is a nation that has been molded by immigrants.
When you think of it, English is barely spoken in certain areas of the Southern States.
I think it's a good idea to grab some good Spanish generics. There must be some left :)

Cool ideas and see it working but might be very difficult to sell them
especially to the .us crowds {or should one say eclectic inner circle}
.us = english language right??
maybe im too american, even though i live in Hawaii
and half of the people speak either japanese or philipino here
sometimes i wonder if the Japanese really secretly took over this island...
they own every hotel and half of the island..
but in my school books it says Hawaii is part of America
could work if you dev them and watch them grow up

heres a joke what do you call a person who speaks three languages?
tri lingual
what do you call a person who speak two languages?? bi lingual
what do you call a person who speaks one language???
American

Not really, I sold a few last year. ;)

While I don't believe that Spanish will take over as the national language, I do belive it will stay a strong second language in the US.

I think that generic spanish keywords are good .us investment. There is a very large spanish speaking population living within the US. I've registered a few with my best being ApuestasDeportivas.us (sports bets).
