As we know, many domainers send emails to promote their names to the buyers. Do you have any funny replies by them? Don't post names or addresses, only the messages!

I got this guy from France ... Very Wierd. He sent me an email asking for a price .... I said that I was open to offers if He was interested, he said: "No, i really dislike your kind of activities, i can’t call this business."

I replied: "Hum, ok ... Why did you ask then ? Are you having problem with people making money ?"

He said: "You already know that your job not something that you can be proud of.
I don’t have any problem with earning money, i have a problem with parasitism of the people that really work and produce something."
Really, it's so difficult just to say ''No, thanks?''

There was an article by will and omar (IIRC) about how to take these responses with a grain of salt because they are valid potential end-users :)

Funniest I had was "It's just a domain name get a real job"

"Wow! $3K for a cutesy domain. I just wanted to use it as a gag site to share with friends. How about this, I'll offer you $1K, my next child (I have too many already), and a case of your favorite microbrew."
HAHA best

I haven't had any funny ones yet...just a couple rude ones that might be too inappropriate to post.
Have you ever had an end user say something like "But you just registered that. Are you crazy" when selling a hand-regged domain? Or expect to buy at a lower price because they've proved to you that they know you just regged it?
I have a lot of hand-regs..and I'm always expecting this to happen, since I would think there has to be at least one person who I contacted that knows about the whois history and has checked it. Maybe they have thought it but never said it in reply.

So far this one wins the prize. Very funny.

This was not an outbound reply, this was incoming from my "Request Info" form on my hack domain pea/rs (.RS is Serbia)
I like pears but I don't need a domain. Maybe next time!

Here's another one I got yesterday after doing some outbound marketing on one of my names:

"Hello

Please be serious and study a little before buying domains in the hope to sell it with a larger price.
I'm not a company, I'm offering a free product ... yes free still exists!

Good luck and please don't contact me again to sell things

Greeetings"

Outbound on a VR domain, they own the reverse reg which is undeveloped, I assume they have plans for it.

Me: Are you interested in this domain?

CEO: How Much?

Me: Low $xxxx

CEO: Don't you think that's a bit much for something that cost a few dollars?

Me: My cost is irrelevant, if you bought an ounce of gold for 5% of market value, would you sell it for the same price because that's how much you paid? Please note that all alternative keyword combinations are in use or locked down, there is no further .com digital real estate left pertaining to this keyword.

Him: You'll have to find another client, I mean victim, hah.

Me: As a CEO of a company based in two continents, you'd be wise to keep an open mind and do some research on the value of domains, and how they can improve your online presence. One last question, is your brand and company image only worth $10? Is this the value you put on protecting it? Have a nice day.

I was courteous but I had to get a dig in. :)

Maybe he goes off and does some research but I doubt it. Afterall, domains are only worth $10.

I recently received a reply from an outbound email where the reply was that I should just give them the domain for free because they were young, struggling entrepreneurs.

After I gave them a price they countered with a low offer bordering on reg fee.

We went back and forth for weeks until we decided on a price.

They told me to send them an invoice and I haven't heard back from them in weeks. :banghead:

Reply from an End user:

I registered the Facebook name XXXXXX for a music event. Within days it seemed your client had registered the .com after seeing the new name! This was sneaky and underhand. We do not use this name currently so any offer for it would be minimal.....i also feel like my name has been stolen by your client. I offer you Β£25 for it as it no longer has any real worth to us.

I dont visit my FB account frequently, How can i know his new FB ID--:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

LOL - You can't possibly post that response and not share the name now : grin : (obfuscate if needed)

so I actually spent over 2 minutes reading this thread. Nothing's funny at all except for maybe the child trade response.

They all sound like they're flipping you all the bird -- and that's not funny :).

I feel fortunate I haven't gotten such responses at all with my outbounds...

If anything this thread made me not want to domain LOL. It is kinda underhanded to see someone make a facebook band thing, and then reg the name and try to sell it to them??

I burst a bit into laughing when I saw his reply cause I could see his perspective, though it's a drag, he just wanted to say no in a badass way. Ill pm you the name.
