the site has been up for nearly two months, and it took a month or so to climb the SERPs.
I dont think it is because it is an adult domain because all the competing sites above it are also adult.
Could someone have done something to the site, told Google something that made them push it down the ranking?
Just to let you know the site is very conservative and doesn't have a lot of adult stuff on it, but it doesnt have an :Are you 18 squeeze page.
now it is back to page one, but ranking second! all most odd. Any thoughts/theories?
Google is like the almighty - it wields great power and moves in mysterious ways.
BTW I found this tip:
Take your term and add '-dfsdgsdsd -sdfgsdgsdfg -sdfgsdgsdg -sdfgsdfgsdfg -dsfgsdgsdg -sdfgsdfgsdfg -sdgsdfgdsfg" (without quotes)
So if your search term was 'Gas Widgets' (without quotes) this would become;
'Gas Widgets -dfsdgsdsd -sdfgsdgsdfg -sdfgsdgsdg -sdfgsdfgsdfg -dsfgsdgsdg -sdfgsdfgsdfg -sdgsdfgdsfg' (without quotes)
If searching for your term using exclusion parameters returns your site to its former rankings and your site falls into description above, you are most probably sandboxed. However, it should be noted that including exclusion parameters will bypass many filters and there is no absolute guarantee that your site is sandboxed.

the only action i took between being on the ninth page and then 10 hours later tanking No.2 was to resubmit my sitemap.
Wonder if that had any impact.
