Are .mobi's that are a popular first name worth much? I'm not talking hugely popular like John or Dan or something, but easily recognized and often used, not some obscure name...

Thanks!

Stands to reason that it's probably worth something to a person with that name.

Yesterday I received an email: "You own ****.mobi My name is **** and yours is not so I have the right to own this name. You must give the name to me. I will pay the registration costs."

Somehow I did not agree.

Note to self: Add a zero to the asking price for the annoyance :hehe:

I think .mobi will be worth a lot in the near future. a lot of site are use them for their websites on mobile phones. I think this could be the next dot com. well only time will tell but I think this will stand the test of time. I think one word domain names will be worth a lot. I would buy now sell later. no need to sell right away.

First name's .anything are typically ... good investments IMHO. Obviously, the more common the first name, the more it is potentially valuable to another commonly and similarly named person(s)! :gl: :talk:

Best of Luck.

I was fortunate enough to register my first name. Many people from Holland and Germany have 'erwin' spelt the same, outside these countries, it's not an overly common first name. Just as many people do a .com check on their own name, this will happen with .mobi. I hope to gain some extra traffic with my name!- How cool

Mohammed.mobi on the other hand...

I own: Gijs.mobi (my Sons name) and Sanne.mobi (most popular dutch girls naam...the last 10 years)

Seems like good investments to me...(7,99 $ is worth a gamble)

If the name is easily recognized and used often, yeah go ahead & get it.
