So I am new to domaining and expecting to make mistakes, perhaps even loose some money, before gaining enough experience to profit in the long run.

These are the first domains I have acquired:

RadioAmplifier.com
iPhone7Help.com
Vindaloos.com
Adoptant.com
Bedsit.net
Fetches.net
PreDelivery.net
ReDating.net
Refurnished.net
Tobacconists.net

I am just wondering if I'm doing OK so far or if I am way off the mark? I got all of these for pretty much registration fee.

One thing I have decided is to focus more just on .com and less so the .nets

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks

Welcome to the community!

I'm not experienced enough to offer you the quality of guidance that many other members will so I'll leave that to the veterans. I can encourage you to spend a lot of time reading on this forum and gain knowledge before making too many purchases! Those reg fee can add up very fast and you can end up with hundreds of domains that you cant give away.:guilty:

You're in the right place now and I hope you'll stick around!

Have a Great day!

welcome...
I would say its a fair start.
Try to register the names and preferably .coms which are product/service/information related and on which a business can be established.
Try to ask yourself if u would buy this name if u had a similar business or needed to establish a website for a particular niche.
Register some, try to sell a few and then repeat.
Try to acquire knowledge as you go along...
welcome again!

Delete iPhone7Help.com as soon as possible unless you want a lawsuit from Apple. Many new domainers don't know about trademark laws and do this same thing so don't feel bad. Just delete it as soon as you can to avoid legal problems.

Do take care of the TM domain names...
Further, you can check any trademarks before registering at uspto.gov or trademark247.com

Good list for someone who is new to it all.

I am sure you should be able to sell some of these but the radio domain is probably the best one in my opinion.

and yeah the iPhone name, total trademark issue there you may want to get rid of it.

Thanks for your feedback

Glad to have learned about trademarks. Is there anything I should know about dropping a domain? Do I just release it through my registrar?

Also registered Bassa.net. I figure that while its a .net, its potentially a multi purpose end-user domain. Being LLLLL, pronounceable, brand-able and a noun give it a lot of possibilities. BASSA an acronym for the British Airlines Stewards and Stewardesses Association, a union exclusively for British Airways cabin crew (already own bassa.co.uk). BASSA is an acronym for the Business Analysis Summit South Africa, a conference run by the South African Chapter of the IIBA. The Bassa language is a Kru language spoken by about 350,000 people in Liberia and 5,000 in Sierra Leone by Bassa people. The Bassa are a Bantu ethnic group in Cameroon numbering approximately 230,000 individuals. Bassa Sports Club, a football (soccer) team in Antigua and Barbuda. 45,000,000 Google results. I only paid registration fee for it so it seems worth a shot anyway.

How do typos of major websites and brands do?

Hello & Welcome,
It is a good start specially in the sense that you shared your domains & asked for the communities feedback. The other good thing is you seem to be positively listening well to the reviews & feedback on the domains you purchased.
  • Rule# 1, only stick to .coms initially.
  • Rule# 2 is Spend your time as much as possible on Reading, this forum is quite an institute on Domaining as you can find valuable articles & threads on relevant topics.
  • Rule#3, Stay Calm & only spend a portion of the money that you dont really need in near future & could bear if all of it could not give you any return, not even the breakeven.
  • Rule#4, Stay Connected with the Comminity & Be Positive.
  • Rule#5 Dont leave any of your current jobs, studies or any other activities for domaining, it should be your extra time activity, at least for the very first year.
  • ///////..........Reading More & More could be very beneficial.

Happy Domaning!
Best Regards,
Daneyal F.

oh yes.. and don't make the newbie mistake I made thinking that generic is something bad for business..

apparently everyone selling oranges wants oranges.biz or oranges.com.. and not MarksJuicyOranges.com

even if the owner's business is closer to that latter.. and his name is Mark.

I also like nerdstats.com. That could make for a pretty cool website if you can find an end user. Maybe something that is highly informative or technical.

Good Luck.

I don't know enough to know this for sure, but some say best place for newbie to start is playing round with aduult names .. apparently your market and buyers will be then made up of the ultra cheap greedy folk... but that may still well leave you with more profit potential in the end than if you start with some other domain names and other subject area.. you know.. like nerds or oranges :)

maybe someone else can better comment on this.. but that's what I hear.

just make sure you are 18+ if you do this. ;)

FontSeller .com

@alcy How do you go about finding buyers in the adult industry? Who do you target and how do you find them? Or do you just list the domains for sale in marketplaces etc. and allow people to find them themselves?

yes I'm just barley less new than u.. so maybe ask for 2nd opinion but as far as I am concerned you have more chance of finding decent adult .coms than most other categories.. unless of course you are talking about .coms for future events.. etc.. things that have not happened yet.. that's a whole diff category of domaining I suppose.. making money not on past or present.. but future.

it helps if you're a psychic for that one. but it's not requirement.

all I know is that adult domains have been going strong since beginning of internet and that anything adult still tops all keywords searches today. and probably will forever.

but again.. get 2nd opinions on this. I heard folk who buy adult domains are bit cheap.

and yes.. in marketplaces of all kinds.. like for everytying else you'd be selling.. plus maybe few more options.. given it's a seperate type of market.
