Hello everyone, I have been lurking on these forums for about a week. Thanks to everyone for all of the valuable information. I have learned a lot so far, and just picked up my first 4 domains. I am just a beginner but I really like the concept of flipping, and I have a few questions that I'm hoping that can be answered.

I have been reading a lot about selling through websites such as Flippa and GoDaddy, etc., but I haven't seen much information about brokers. What are the pros and cons of a domain broker? I assume it will cost me more money, but can I expect to sell my domains quicker and at a better price through a broker?

Also, I am wondering about the value of these domains I have picked up, and which ones will be worth my time to try and establish the sites first, and which ones to try and flip quickly. I am willing to go the long route to establish a site and sell it, but who doesn't like the idea of making a quick buck? Anyway, here are the domains I've picked up:

MileagePoints.com
SearchMetrics.net
east-london.com
bestburgerrecipes.com

Thanks in advance for the help.

The good news is they are much better than the average 'first purchases', the bad news is they are not going to be easy to sell :)

MileagePoints - a brandable and because of this its more difficult to proactively sell, so you may have to wait to see if anyone comes to you. You could build something on it if you had an idea around the name.

SearchMetrics - more suitable for a build out imo

East-London - ok geo but has the hyphen and will be competing against the developed non hyphen version

BestBurgerRecipes - ok for a build out

As always just my two cents :)

Great, thank you for the tips. I felt pretty good about these except the burger one haha. I have some experience with wordpress so I will look into building these up tomorrow and finding some good affiliates or cpa offers for the time being.

Also, as far as hosting goes, do most domain flippers just buy a hosting reseller package to keep all of their sites on?

I bought these separate from my other hosting plan because it was cheaper, but now it seems I may have to pay even more just to transfer them, looks like I'll just end up purchasing another hosting package for these to save the money from transferring the domains. Can anyone recommend the best option to avoid making the same mistake with my next domains?

Hey Jason,

First the good news. You have BestBurgerRecipe.com, and not BestBurgerRecipes.com. Your domain receives 10 times the amount of searches than with the S. The bad news is also the length, however, the difficulty in typing BestBurgerRecipe.com isn't ergonomically too hard. I had considered this domain earlier but decided against it.

MileagePoints.com - Brandable domain yes, but quite possibly too long to resell on BrandBucket.com. It seems like a lot of work would need to be done given your competition against airlines and credit cards.

SearchMetrics.net - Don't think about selling this domain to SearchMetrics.com are trademark owners in reference to these keywords in the seo sector.

east-london.com - Unless you have a vast knowledge of East London, dash will hurt this domain.

Agree'd that these aren't bad for your first 4. You'll learn and see more trends as time goes. Even with this criticism you still might have an angle on something that one of us doesn't see, so don't get discouraged too quickly!

In case you see an angle for this domain that expired this week, DisabledCard.com. You can check the wayback machine for the archive to get an idea on how to brand this. As of now, it still has not been registered. I don't know why MileagePoints.com reminded me of this bet it did haha.

Good buys for first 4.

From my personal experience I'll say. Whenever I see a good domain, I feel "yes, this is my $100,000 pick. Sometimes more.
Within three days of buying I feel, "No, Possibly its not that great."

a week later , I feel "what the f was I thinking, when I bought this shit"

So a $100,000 to shit in a week. This happens a lot when someone starts domaining.

So I'd suggest. Do not buy a domain right away. wait for 4-5 days. If you still like it then hit the hammer.

I know that cycle all too well! However, I disagree with your last sentence. Sometimes as domainer when you wait that long to register an expired domain, you run the risk of somebody else registering it. There has to be a more scientific method to this!

I completely agree. But for a start he can wait. when he gains experience, probably he'll take quick decisions.

Are you sure he has the one with the S? The whois says the one with S was registered in 2009...

I Agree Grilled Jesus! The way I find domains and know which domains to leave and which domains to buy is by doing the following... for example when i hit the trigger on bestburgerrecipe.com i looked at the searches and as you can see it gets alot... its very generic, I then thought to myself what am i going to do if the domain doesn't sell to an end user is it a good name to build a website on? and yes absolutely I love burgers! with a good blog regarding burger recepies etc it could be a great site!

I jumped on WindowsThreshold.com (I guess its microsofts codename for their next OS) the other day like an idiot. Waiting too long to register WindowsHomeServer.com had me too jumpy from earlier in the week.

In my opinion leaving a few days to let the name percolate before buying has more upside than jumping in and registering. If the name is available then there is a very high chance it will still be there in 3 days time. Trending names may be slightly different but I would always support the take your time approach.

Thanks for all the replies, these domains showed as available and I received order confirmation emails from 1and1. I haven't been notified that the purchase is complete for the domains bestburgerrecipe and east-london like I have for my other domains. In retrospect those are the two that I liked the least, so I wouldn't be disappointed if I don't get them.

Theydon, I agree about letting it percolate, I have been making my list and then coming back to it after about an hour, but there have been a few that I saw and immediately recognized that there could be a lot of value in.
If I am hand registering domains that just expired less than 24 hours ago, shouldn't I expect some competition?

Hello and good luck in your endeavors. Mileagepoints.com is a decent hand reg.

May I suggest to NOT use 1and1 as your registrar of choice..just search the forum here for more feedback. Godaddy has dozens and dozens of coupon codes where you can lower your initial cost of new registrations to as little as $1 per .com. I'm writing this from my mobile or I would link you to those threads..look for the godaddy discount codes thread here and save $ on your new domain purchases.

I have some ideas:
- You can buy good expried domains (good PA, DA, backlink) and sell for SEO services company
- List your domains as much as posible (Godaddy, Bido,.., Facebook Group and Fanpage, Email Sig)
- Buy domain with coupon will help you save much money. Visit my coupon site you will find many free coupon
- You should buy .COM domain first
- 6 letters .COM domain maybe a good choice if you can find a good buyer
- Read more and more. Many bro had shared they experience in this great domain forum

Hope this help !
