Closed my very first domain sale. $5 right here in NP.

I'm feeling buzzed and jazzed up and it almost feels like i'm waiting for a $50K wire transfer. :)

Any old timers care to share your very first sale(marketplace & amount).

Cheers

My first and single sale for a year - domain vietnam-travel.net
I have sold it for 60$, but received only 10$ because of Sedo's comission - 50$:xf.grin:
Now I am aware, but after this case I did not have sales. But I'm sure I will:xf.wink:

Is this what i can expect out of this hobby? i don't want to sound negative, but it looks like many of you is making 5-10 bucks sales. Not exactly paying the bills is it? I mean, it's less than most registration fees.

As with anything else in life, it is what you make of it. I'm starting out too, but I have no doubt that if we just spend hours and hours researching and then taking action slowly & just repeating the cycle, we will make this a worthwhile venture. And also make some life long friends along the way.

In the 20 years of this industry, many have hit grand slams and others struck out. Looking at the whois of candy.com, it has 2 drops. As we all know Rick Schwartz finally sold it for $3Million+, years down the line.Around the turn of the century, when the dotcom bubble burst, many domaineers liquidated their assets for peanuts. Yun Ye, Frank Shilling and a few others scooped it all up and then sold it for millions.

Right here in NamePros, we have domaineers who started recently and are doing very well. Go Time Ventures (Ali Zandi), Nitindomains just to name a couple and there are definitely many more.

I am sure you can turn this hobby into a lucrative one, and if you ride it hard enough, even turn it into a full time business.

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm fairly new at this. tried it back in 2009 for a while but with personal stuff and work i barely had the time to do anything so i just left the domains i had to drop without renewing. I had a great short .net domain that now is for sale for $1300. Oh well. That only tells me i did something right and perhaps i saw the value in the right kind of name.

I will tell you where the 'dot' in your domain name is located for $5! :P

My first sale was pretty small, probably about $20 or $30 on Flippa and after fees I made like $15 and it felt amazing. It's like the feeling of going on a roller coaster then getting off and feeling kinda shaky :) glad you got your first sale!

Congratulations and surely first of many!

I sold my first couple domains around this time last year via Sedo great domain auctions - casinotournaments.co.uk and easyjob.co.uk both sold for £ 84 each and I got about £ 50 for each after Sedo standard expenses..

Positive thoughts yield positive results (with positive actions, of course). Good luck.. domain world is like a roller coaster. Good positive step... next time hopefully you'll have 5 figures in the near future.

so Sedo Made all the money while you put in the effort.I got an offer for $100 on a name but I countered because I won't take 40 while Sedo take 60.It's a no brainer.Still have my day job so not selling just because I have to make a sale.

It may be little bit off topic - but I would not expect one to significant profit to the extent the business is profitable unless you sell it to the end user. Most of the people on the forums, or any domain auctions are resellers and most are looking to make anywhere form $50-$100 on a transaction. On a decent name, one should be making close to $1000 profit. One should focus on finding the end users who will actually use the name and can pay a reasonable price. Now to coming to the point, how do I do it? Where do you find them, that is a big challenge. I can tell a long term strategy for this, I have a sizable portion of names and I have never sold any name for $50-$1000 profit. I park them in any parking site, and let the end users contact you. Key is the quality, meaning they think of the same name like you thought, they will contact you and you will get the right price for it. Not to mention there are other channels, where you can reach out to prospective buyers. It is a long journey and you should be in a long haul, but it is a profitable journey for sure.

You should never capitalize a letter of a domain name. It made it look like a 0.
