Expiring domains Alexa Ranking

Hi everyone,

I am new to the domain business. I had previous sites but never looking to actually buy and sell domains or buy to park. Recently I received an offer for my PokerTalk.com and sold it for 5k. Now I am considering getting into this business (I know I won't easily get another deal like the one above) but what is the best way to start?

I looked at some daily expiring lists that show the alexa rating and most of the names that have a 1,000,000 raking or less actually seem to be redirections and not the main site. Would these names still have type in traffic for PPC parking or are they mainly entry pages that these previous owner are no longer promoting hence the traffic will be gone by the time you get the name?

Any suggestions on what the best way to start in this business would be appreciated.

Hi! I'm new here too. I do know that most SEO pros don't care about alexa rankings anymore. It seems more and more users are dropping the toolbar.

Analytics: There are still other resources. Try compete.com and urltrends.com to get an idea of a domains traffic.

Other than that, I'm a domaining amateur so I don't have much information.
