Expensive Domain Names?

I have noticed some ads on sites like www.whois.sc that they have domains for auctions starting from $50 or more and it goes upto $700

I was wondering why would anyone buy a domain name for $700, isnt that crazy?

I would rather prefer to buy a new one :P

$75,000 isn't the half of it, or the tenth of it for that matter. Nothing is crazy about it. Online business is big business and the best domains are like prime real estate for both companies and individuals and can truly be a huge asset.
