Why Buy A Previously Owned Domain?

I don't get it, why would some people opt to buy previously owned (but unused) domain names? Sometimes it's even more expensive than the price it was bought for and in many occasions the domain name isn't catchy or anything. *Confused* I want to buy a domain name - isn't it a lot cheaper for me to go to sites like godaddy.com?

If you wish to buy a developed name, (domain name,template,SEO) then its a good idea. You are already in SE's, and most of them have alot to a little traffic.. It all depends on what you need and want.
