can you assist............what exactly is an "exact google search"?
an example please.............

In exact match searches, it is estimated to get exact number of traffics from Google search engine if it is on the first position.

For example:

Google adwords keyword tool is telling 2500 exact match searches for "dating tips"

then you need to optimize your keyword for the first position..

I think you would get around 50% of 2500 if you are on first position..

Very well said prosence. To add a little info, exact match search will allow you to show up your add only if someone, or a searcher will type in the exact words or phrase that you associate with your account.

Google exact searches is simply how many times users search for this exact word/set of words (word order respected) per month.

It does not guarantee any percentage of traffic to your domain even if you are on the first place of search results for this query - the distribution of user clicks between sites in search results depends on many factors and is unpredictable. But on average according to the latest Compete.com research 1st position brings 53% of clicks:

"When it comes to clicks on those organic listings, 53 percent go to the top result. The second sees 15 percent of the action, the third 9 percent, the fourth 6 percent, dwindling all the way down to 4 percent to round out the top 5."

For majority of keywords as ProSence said it's safe to assume 50% of exact searches would convert into your monthly traffic if you would manage to grab 1st position and retain it for 30 days

Do not forget to only check [Exact] when researching for search numbers in GAKT - "Broad" and "Phrase" have no meaning in this context

4PM has made a good post to clear up some confusion. It is a number found in the Google Keyword Tool, NOT the search results pages, that shows how many times the exact words in the exact order were used for a search. It is the best gauge for what your results will be if a page is optimized for the same thing. And by extension, a domain will tend to rank better for the same thing.

exact searches for exact keywords

and broad searches for any of the word included in the keyword.....

So broad searches are higher than exact searches...... and you always have to consider exact searches if you are going to optimize that keyword.

broad searches are searches also included related keyword
phrase searches are searches which include keyword phrase

Exact search are searches in Google with quotes around your key words. For example, searching for cheap prices on furniture will be different that searching for "cheap prices on furniture". Are you feeling lucky?
