Here's your tip of the day...

have you ever dropped a domain due to forgetting to put auto renew or whatever reason?

most of us prolly have...

Here's 1 way to protect a little...

backorder your own domains or at least your most valuable names.

that way your at least in the running and prolly will get it right back.

your welcome :)

Only if you're the highest bidder & after spending thousands to purchase your own name back after it goes to auction :)

but if its worth thousands at auction its prolly worth 50k to you.

still better than completely loosing it imo...

Isn't there a time period that you can reclaim the domain (for a fee) after it has dropped? I think if you miss this then you are probably too late to backorder anyway.

Yes, that is the Redemption period (certain days after Expired, but NOT after dropped /deleted ) :)

How about instead of remembering to backorder it, you remember to turn auto renew on?

Yeah, if you can remember to backorder it, you should be able to remember to auto renew it, ensure that your cc info would be up to date, and ensure that you have a backup payment set, ie paypal.

With this method, you may as well give it to someone and buy back off them for loads in a few years. Same difference

how about having an organized file (i use excel) with all your names...
include in this file the expiration date, registrar and price you paid for it

very important: dont forget the backup

all you have to do is check once or twice a month when your names will expire and then you renew it... besides this my auto-renew is on

I have the same thing except the price paid - I should have that though!
