enom's DNS service is down and/or overwhelmed today
(3rd time this summer?)
If you are having trouble reaching your own sites or any of the other 8 million+ sites using their DNS, try using opera which caches the dns beyond the 3 minute timeout that enom sets, or if you are using Firefox, go into about:config and either add or change this setting
network.dnscacheexpiration
the setting is in seconds, I just changed to 1800 for now and can get through just fine repeatedly once I finally make a good connect after several retries.

eNom said:Our San Francisco data center experienced an outage earlier this morning which has since been resolved. Since then, one of our firewalls in our New York data center went down and that is currently being worked on. There currently is no ETA on when the issue will be resolved, however we have all available network staff addressing the issue so we hope to have things back to normal very soon.
