Why do they think some of these domains are premium? I think you can reg better by hand in "a lot" of cases. Some are all numbers, misspellings and include hypens. Complete crap for a .tv. I wouldn't pay $100 once for most of them, then again yearly. There are 53,000 "Premium Names"?? It should be about 50,000 Junk and about 3000 "Premium".

Any other thoughts on this topic. I realize I am very new to domaining, but I just can't believe it.

I might be totally off base and if I am, just explain what "Premium" means because evidently I have know idea.

With regard to premiums...

Something I have found - and I don't often hear it mentioned - is the problem of perception.

In that buyers like to have a certain exclusivity about their desired domains. The fact that so many of these premiums are a) still available and b) in theory can be registered by anyone with the financial clout ---- somewhat tarnishes the exclusivity image.

I had a great domain - a premium - that sold for peanuts. My theory is this would have sold for 4 times that amount if it had been a normal reg.

Just a thought.

BTW elittle, I have FreeHosting.tv. Would make a nice partner to your freeflash! PM me and I'll sell it ya!

Holy dejavu Batman.

Reasons why:

5) Someone goofed
4) No one over there at Verisign cares
3) They all rode the short bus to school
2) Fat fingered prices
1) Becase they can

I just think they don't want anyone to register .tv domains. No money is better than some money. And seriously, nobody is going to register most of these domains unless they are completly retarded!!

Remember, Domain names are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. You can throw everything else out the door.

Someone needs to let enom know they missed one;

e-n-0-m-i-s-r-u-n-b-y-a-b-u-n-c-h-0-f-m-0-n-k-e-y-e-s-5.tv

See the perfectly placed hyphens, misspellings, and a convenient number.

And to top it all off, zero search volume!

Enom's definition of "Premium"

Premium: A Domain with any collection of letters, numbers, hyphens and length is unlimited!

Except in most cases it's Verisign that decided on the premiums...

And demand media markup the price for their cuts as the middle man.

At any registrar other than Enom, a premium domain is listed as unavailable. So most of the general public is entirely unaware of the screwed-up, poorly managed, totally ridiculous, embarrassing, and utterly confusing premium system.

On a side note, I've noticed that the majority of premium .TVs sell for below their annual renewal fee on the aftermarket. In most cases, using a buy and hold strategy (without development) on premium .TVs will be a losing proposition.

My philosophy is to avoid premium .TVs altogether and to forget that they even exist.
