Man, what a dilemma!

I went from about 10 end user sales a day to around 1 or 2 a week. How can this happen?

My market has always been end users but lately im wondering if I should move to auctions / forums and so forth.

I'm getting really frustrated...!

Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

i don't know but it must be the season... ppl, both end-users and domainers are somewhat laying a bit off of their usual workline which might cause that lowdown... just my thoughts

It's happening everywhere and I face similar in web development / graphic design. I used to get about 5+ inquires a day but it went down to just a couple a week. Lately it's been better because I've reached to different audiences so you are right by wanting to explore other options for the time being.

10 end user sales a day is incredible. Would love to see your contact email setup.

I would guess that many are spending money/saving money for the holidays or are on vacation already.

I agree with this......
Usually dead this time of year anyway, besides some holiday liquidations, usually not too much going on.

Maybe you have sold out all of your best domains?

So in an average year you sell 3650 domains to END USERS?

If true, that would be remarkable if "I" refers to just one guy.
How do you find average 10 end users every day? (feel free to PM me :D)
How do you replenish your inventory with enough sellable names?
Care to pick any random day and list what the 10 (or so) end user sales were?

Hm, i would be happy even with few end-users sales per week, even if an average end-user sale would be just lets say $500. If you really had 10 end-users sales per day, you were one of the most successfull domainers.

Im very new to domaining, but I started off extremely well and it ran well for about 2 weeks. Everything slowed down around November and right now its been dead quiet.

By I, I mean my fiance and I. I have plenty of sell-able domain names currently and even so, things are slow/dead. Im using the same sales copy too. I often wonder If I should not go in a little more aggressive. Sort of like, Do you want it or not, cause if you don't, your competitor will take it. Usually, that scares them off or motivates them into the sale.

I cant rely on auctions and bids to put money in the bank. If I cant sell it myself to the end user and at least have some form of control on how many prospects I can get to, then it just feels like time wasted.

Since Im engaged, there is no time to waste, if you know what I mean :)

$500, man i wish.

Local businesses here struggle to fork out $300, if im lucky. Usual sales are around $130-150.

130-150 is not bad but it is the holidays and with the economy like it is. just wait till around mid January after the holidays and people will be settling in and buying and selling.

Well, $130-$150 is ok, but when i think about end-user sales i think about sales in $x.xxx range or higher. But you are right, even low $xxx could be end-user sale of course.

Only few of us has regular end-user sales, so you should be happy with few end-user sales per week ;) Dont give up and there will be always some sales.

But be aware that if you get used to $130-$150 sales you would probably lost sense for asking a real money ($xx.xxx)from end-users, and also if you would always ask big money your sales would be very rare if you would have your sales at all.

Review your past purchases! Probably you have gotten less picky than before! It has happened to me countless times. It's easier to get of course, and start buying everything that comes to your eyes; than to stay focused on quality.

I understand what you are trying to say. Ive had no luck at all selling overseas (Europe or USA)They never reply.

Perhaps I should try it, one big x,xxx sale is equal to 10 xxx sales right?

I find the UK is extremely picky too.

It is too close to Christmas to proactively sell domains IMO. Just shelf the domains until the new year and then start again.

That doesn't mean you can't sell during this months. Here's another point of view: what about companies that surpassed their projections, and are looking for some additional expenses before the year ends to reduce their net income for tax purposes? I've sold plenty in the last two weeks. Maybe your messages are arriving at spam folders instead of inbox?

Thats also a real possibility. Any ideas for getting around that? Now-a-days spam filters are so strict!

To answer your question I would just say that sales are normally slow in December as many people travel or are more focused on the holidays than buying domain names. Many domainers think of end user sales as the $xxxx type but several low $XXX sales can still add up to decent money. While personally I don't email end users for domains priced in the $1XX range, I suppose your post serves as a reminder that there is ample demand for domains priced in the low $XXX range. This year about 90% of my domain sales were below $1500 and about 2/3 were below $800. Given the number of so-so domains I have sold with Godaddy Premium Listings at ~$300 or below, perhaps it is worth experimenting with pricing a few more domains in that range. Of course I cannot imagine ever being able to find ten domains a day worth regging so if I sold ten domains a day I would be out of business in a matter of months.
