I was just wondering if I could get some people who have actually made end user sales to let me know how it happened. I have a few domains I own not in particular that I think I can make end user sales on but I have trouble deciding who to contact with the name besides the owners of the other extensions.

eg: familyhelp.org

I believe I can get a good price from an end user on this but have trouble coming up with how I should tackle the process. How many emails do you send out? How do you decide who to send them to? What do you say in the email? Understandably not many people understand the value of a domain name the concept of paying more then a reg fee for one baffles some people.

Any advice would be greatky appreciated as I am away visiting family and therefore don't have the tools to work on the webdesign stuff I'm usually busy doing. It would be nice if I could market and sell a couple of my names while I'm out here.

Thanks in advance, and please only people who have made successful end user sales in the past - I know the basic "do a google search" and email... but I would like examples of what you say in an email or other resources you use to find end users.

Ryan,

You're talking about the whole marketing course here:

1. Define the market of the domain name
2. Narrow it down to specific region (country, state, etc.)
3. Do a search to combine a list of companies that fit with the domain name.
4. Prepare a short letter which state how did you find the email, who you are and why do you send the email and make sure that they understand you will not follow up (spam) unless you get a reply from them.
5. There is no limit on the number of emails that you send. It all depends on your time.

Good luck,

John

Thank you, so I suppose for a generic name like the one above I'll start in a certain region and just keep moving around until I've covered as many places as possible.

Thansk for the tips, and specifically for what the email should contain. Do you list an asking price or how do you ask the person to contact you? Can you provide an example email?

You don't want to get into pricing until they reply with some interest. The reason is there is no rules for a domain name. Example: if you sell the name to a small company you would expect a couple of hundred dollar vs. if you sell the name to a billion dollar company.

Sample letter:

Dear Business Owner,

My name is XXXX and I'm in the business of helping business owner like yourself to acquire domain name.

I happen to own the domain name: XXXX and believe it has great potential to expose your business to the internet.

I found your email address from the site xxxx. This is not a spam email and you will not hear from me again unless you have interest in acquiring the domain name.

Kindly thank you for your time.

Your name.

This is just a sample and I'm not a professional writer or marketing guru so don't pick on me for grammar or English.

Good luck,
