Merry Christmas everyone.

As we approach the end of the year it will also soon be the end of my first 12 months trying to sell Names.

The verdict : D for Dunce. Must do better!

I've been distracted elsewhere for much of the year with a new business, and left my domains sitting with Afternic.

Nothing from them. No updates. Zilch.

I listed with Sedo about a month ago (changed the NS), and have spent more time on my account over the weekend.

My landers just show a list of 50+ advertising links.

Any potential buyer has to scroll down to the bottom of the page and search out the 10 pt text offering the name for sale.

I haven't selected 'Parking'. Am I just being used on this one, or have I not set-up the offer correctly?

At least AN builds the lander with the sale as priority.

I'm thinking about putting a few into auction, but, (as I understand it)

GD no longer offer public auctions.

Dynadot requires the Names to be hosted with them.

Sedo require an up-front fee.

When Sedo ask for 'suggestions' for their bi-monthly auctions are there any up-front fees involved?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks and Best Wishes for 2026.

Your names are not selling because 99% chance they are of low quality - typical beginner picks (we've all been there). You need to spend much more time mastering the craft of choosing the right names. That's it.

As for listings: Sedo, Afternic, and your own landers (that's what I do, and I use NP landers) - obviously, there are other variations and options. But there is not much you can do to accelerate sales. It's not about where or how you sell, it's about what you sell. And forget auctions - they are a complete waste of time.

Good luck!

Thanks.

No, I appreciate your input.
Is that a normal LP for Sedo? as I presume only seasoned buyers will find their way down to the CTA.

To set up this way do you use the Nameservers from your hosting provider and take the 'hit' on the
extra commission if Sedo or AN makes the sale?

Which landing pages are you referring to? I haven't seen your domain names or your landing pages. Either way, you can use Sedo's nameservers to get your domains listed on Sedo and then change them back anywhere you like.

On commissions: you can mark up your prices on Afternic and Sedo, so you don't have to use the same price on LP/Afternic/Sedo. You can sell a name for 1 $1000 on your lander, for 1100 on Sedo (10% commissions) and for 1300 at Afternic (25-30% - whatever they charge now).

Don't bother with Sedo. it's been dead for 4-5 years for me. 0 action, but I don't use their nameservers.
Use only Afternic and don't think about it too much. Sales are irregular and come when you don't expect it.

The ones I described in my opening post - the Sedo page is almost black and has a list of yellow links
to various shopping sites running right down the centre of the page.

No mention of the domain being for sale until you reach the tiny text at the bottom.

I've just clicked through from Sedo's Domains-For-Sale list (Copy+Paste) and they have either a nicely laid out
offer page or at least has the CTA on the top line.

Great idea. Thanks.

Ok, thanks. I'm always late to the party.

Yeah Sedo seems EOL. Their operations are for sale, no participation here anymore.

From what you described - your Sedo pages - you definitely need better landers than this. I think, Sedo is still worth using for broader exposure, but definitely not for landers. Use NamePros LP if unsure - free, easy to setup, lots of options to customize.

Merry Christmas @BritFlippa

Pure technically, you could try these Sedo nameservers for sales lander only, without ads:

sl1.sedo.com
sl2.sedo.com

(where 'sl' stands for sales lander, obviously)

Yes they look awful, and it's not obvious that the Name is actually for sale.
I'll have a look at those landers and change things around. Many thanks.

Merry Christmas @Future Sensors
Hope you have a Healthy & Successful 2026.

Thanks, I'll try some with those NS, and I'll try a few with the NP landers as well.

What sort of visitor numbers (Uniques?) would you be looking for in terms of justifying renewing a name?

I don't base renewal decisions purely on raw uniqueโ€‘visitor counts. Those numbers are often heavily inflated by bots. Unless a domain shows essentially 0 traffic for an extended period, in which case I investigate technical issues or a lack of visibility.

What does matter to me is sustained engagement. Repeat human visitors, incoming offers (even with BIN only) and how a domain performs relative to similar domains in my portfolio. I evaluate each domain as a branding strategist would, asking whether a business, product, or organization would choose that name, for that price (among the sometimes many alternatives available to a buyer within that vertical). If it has strong market fit and brand potential, I register and continue renewing it.

It's decision time for most of my names over the next 6 weeks.
At the moment there are only two definites for renewal, but they have certainly suffered from
a lack of visibility over the last month.

Lesson learned. Check. Don't assume that everything is in order because a big company is handling things.

One has been getting 10x more views than anything else - despite the Sedo lander.
It's a 6 letter/Com which I've seen used as (6), (2+4) and (3+3) so one to work on after I've had
my Christmas break.

Many thanks again for all your help this year.

Brilliant!

I've started moving some of my names over and the landing page is 100x better.

It's actually a selling page now, rather than Sedo's Parking.

To answer my own question : Yes, I think they were 'having a lend' using my names.

Another quick point :

I see that Spaceship now offer a selling service.

Has anyone had any success with them yet?

I've been on the fence about Sedo for ages, and with the recent announcement it feels like final nail in the coffin (unless they are taken over by a company that is forward thinking and iterates based on user feedback).

That said..
