What do you think about this eBay Auction that I just found?

FIRST THINGS FIRST PLEASE READ THE WHOLE AD BEFORE BIDDING, I ASK FOR SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY; IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO PAY THEN DON’T BID BECAUSE WHEN YOU BID YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT.

Feel free to contact me with any question’s you may have anytime, and I will get back with you as soon as possible.

BECOME A PART OF EBAY / DOMAIN NAME HISTORY WITH THE WORLD'S FIRST $2,000,000 MYSTERY DOMAIN AUCTION!!!

WHY A MYSTERY DOMAIN AUCTION?

THE #1 REASON, IT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. (BUT MANY WILL TRY AFTER THIS ONE)

MYSTERY AUCTIONS CAN BE FUN AND EXCITING!!!

MYSTERY DOMAIN AUCTION (M.D.A.) BECAUSE DOMAINS ARE THE NEW PREMIUM REAL ESTATE. HAVING A GREAT DOMAIN IS JUST LIKE HAVING A REAL ESTATE IN THE BUSIEST PART OF TOWN.

YOU COULD OPEN YOUR NEW BUSINESS.

YOU COULD USE THE REAL ESTATE TO EXPAND A BUSINESS.

ARE YOU COULD JUST KEEP IT UNTIL ALL THE LAND IS GONE THEN SELL IT.

ARE YOU COULD DEVELOP THE LAND AND THEN SELL.

ANYWAY YOU GET THE PICTURE.

BUT IF YOUR STILL NOT SURE ABOUT THE VALUE OF DOMAIN NAMES CHECK THESE SITES OUT.

DN JOURNAL
USA TODAY
THE WHIR
MSNBC
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

NOW THIS DOMAIN ALREADY HAS A HIGH MARKET VALUE BUT IT WILL SKYROCKET AFTER THIS AUCTION NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.

BECAUSE AGAIN THIS IS THE FIRST AUCTION OF IT'S KIND ON EBAY THE WORLD LARGEST ONLINE AUCTION.

AND WHEN PEOPLE HERE ABOUT YOU BUYING A DOMAIN NAME WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IT IS THE WORLD WILL TUNE IN AND REMEMBER THE DOMAIN NAME FOREVER.

AND TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WORLD TUNING IN WE HAVE PUT OUT A PRESS RELEASE FOR THIS AUCTION.
(THIS MAY BE THE FIRST TIME THAT A PRESS RELEASE HAS GONE OUT BEFORE ANYTHING IS SOLD)

THE WINNER OF THIS DOMAIN WILL BE THE HAPPIEST EBAY WINNER EVER!

NOW FOR THE DOMAIN NAME.

I HAVE A FEW THINGS I WELL TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR NEW DOMAIN

1. IT'S A VERY RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER TYPE OF DOMAIN NAME. A 3 LETTER DOMAIN NAME. GUARANTEED TO BE ALL LETTERS ARE YOUR MONEY BACK AND YOU KEEP THE DOMAIN.

LETTERS ONLY (THE ONLY NON LETTER YOU WILL SEE IS THE DOT)

2. IT HAS A VOWEL IN IT. (A, E, I, O, U)

3. AND MOST IMPORTANT WHEN GETTING A DOMAIN. CAN IT BE PRONOUNCED?
YES IT CAN AND PRONOUNCED AS A WORD (like saying RED dot whatever), NOT AS LETTERS.(ATW dot whatever)

TO TEST THIS I HAD MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND 8 YEAR OLD SON READ THE DOMAIN NAME, AND THEY BOTH HAD NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!!!

4. LAST THING IT'S GUARANTEED TO BE ONE OF THESE, .INFO, .NAME, .BIZ, .ORG, .NET, ARE YES .COM.

(COME ON IT'S A MYSTERY AUCTION I CAN'T TELL YOU WHICH ONE, BUT I BELIEVE YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY!)

(AND IF YOU KNOW LIKE I KNOW FINDING A 3 LETTER DOMAIN THAT HAS A VOWEL AND CAN BE SAID AS A WORD IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!) I THINK IT IS A THIS POINT.

ONE LAST THING

THERE IS BONUS CASH FOR SOME THAT BID AND DO NOT WIN.

BUT PLEASE BID TO WIN BECAUSE IT WOULD DO YOU MORE GOOD TO HAVE THE M.D.A.

THE FIRST PERSON TO BID

This auction shouldnt be allowed. Up to $6100! If the domain had any value it wouldnt be a mystery auction..

true Jay , the dream of all incentive-bidders (as well as strange-item-eBay-sellers) ...

that the auction will rise to publicity-generating status and a big player (usually Golden Palace Casino) will win the auction with a huge bid (for publicity) and everybody (seller and incentive-bidders) will make money ...

imo this auction has not attracted that much attention and together with the fact that is not a .com (otherwise it would have been stated specifically in the description and not get "obscured" with the mentioning of all the other TLDs) it would not justify a bid from a high-paying buyer (or from a domain investor) ...

furthermore . it is not the first domain mystery auction (so as to "make eBay history" , and therefore attract a high-payer) ... I have seen another domain mystery auction on eBay in the past ...

Wow, it's on $6,100 now! How tempted are you to put a $10,000 bid in on a new account in the hope that it gets outbid so you get $1,000 back

If the buyers are not happy, they may (just maybe) have some recourse because of his ad claims:

"NOW THIS DOMAIN ALREADY HAS A HIGH MARKET VALUE BUT IT WILL SKYROCKET AFTER THIS AUCTION NO QUESTION ABOUT IT."

"THE WINNER OF THIS DOMAIN WILL BE THE HAPPIEST EBAY WINNER EVER!"

FYI--though he states the press release has over 100,000 hits, the auction has about 2700. Only 35 bids...only one bid so far today.

Why don't you go to a sportsbook, bet $10,000 on a team with 1,10 odds and you will have much more chance of winning $1,000 :hehe:

If you check the "Sellers others items", he has at least 4 more of these mystery auctions...

bio2pets - I don't think it is easy to know which name it was ...

the seller won't disclose it because it would potentially harm his future mystery auctions (since , imo , it was not a highly valuable domain)

the buyer can't disclose it because , imo , he will not pay for the auction and therefore will not learn which domain was it ...

Here's a guaranteed 3 letter .com auction.

Again, why would you keep it a secret?

Some of the, possible, reasons why.

ThreeLetter.com
LetterLetterLetter.com
3Letter.com
thr33letter.com
ThreeLLL.com
ThreeLetterDotCom.com/net/org/info/biz/cctld

These and endless others would meet the criteria of a "guaranteed 3 letter.com" in a "mystery" auction.. Caveat emptor.

I think there a big possibility that the .com mystery auction might actually be an LLL.com ... I just think that it is rather awkward and low-value one ... if it was a valuable one , he would state it up front (and flaunt it) so as to get a good price ... I think that auction will suffer from the same type of incentive-bidding that the other auction suffered from ... also the layout is a slightly modified version of the other mystery auction which is very unprofessional

the fact that he sells an LLN.com leans towards the side that he might own an LLL.com ...

the fact that he does not accept PayPal for this auction (therefore the winner won't be able to submit a PayPal Buyer Complaint for misrepresentation) leans towards the "unpronounceability" of the domain (he states "It can be read as a word not just some mumbo jumbo!") or Grrilla's letterletterletter.com explanation ... of course , just the high-price could justificate a PayPal-exclusion , but the fact that he does not mention escrow (which could potentially blow the mystery if the buyer accepts the domain and then does not release the funds) just shows that the seller expects the buyer not to be satisfied with his purchase so as to release the funds after he sees the domain ...

These mystery auctions have one major flaw....it clearly states

"THE FIRST PERSON TO BID"

"We will pay cold hard cash to some of the people who bid and do not win!"

Bidding $1,000,000 GETS $102,000....so if you are the first to "BID" $1,000,000 and then retract your bid you are still the first to "BID" $1,000,000 and there for the seller would owe you $102,000. As we all know it's all in the details and these auctions are going to bite hard on both the seller and buyer.

I will, for a laugh.

He got 6.1K appaently, if the buyer paid up LOL.

Be interesting to hear on developments.

strictly speaking , they should include another disclaimer that the bidders should not retract their bid to qualify for the bonuses  ... on the other hand , it is kind of self-explanatory that if you retract your bid you forfeit the bonus ... (if they include the second disclaimer in the next auctions we'll know they hang around these places ...)

AGS - economically speaking , if you knew you could certainly receive the $100,500 ($102,000 is in the .com mystery auction) , it would be a good idea to send $6,100 to the buyer to pay for the auction  (so as to cover the only disclaimer of the auction) ... $100,500 - $6,100 = $94,400 profit ... of course though I'm only saying this jokingly , since the seller won't honour the retracted bid even if he received the $6,100 of the winning bid ...

on other news the .com mystery auction is at $5,101 ... D-: ... I think incentive-bidders will start circling the place ...

I hope no one pays EBAY needs to clean their auctions up

microdude - this is NOT a top notch domain ... if you had cat.com would you sell it in a mystery auction ? ... if you had any good LLL.com wouldn't you just flaunt it to sell it high ? it is not a word , he says it is pronouncable ... well qij.com is pronouncable ... does it worth $20,000 ? ... in auction like this , incentive bidders build up the price and finally the winner just doesn't pay because noone would pay $20,000 or $XX,XXX for a domain he cannot see ...

Soz if I seemed a little hostile but I want new domainers to get a fair perspective of the mystery domain situation and don't start bidding like crazy on domains that are probably worthless and might contribute in more and more silly auctions like this being posted because of the gathered attention (like in the Bizarre/Mystery category) , making eBay domain marketplace even more difficult than it is ...

I don't think that the buyer of the first auction will pay , he was probably just hoping to be outbidded and snap the bonus ... I think it is the same case in this auction too ... the bidders are mostly the same ones between the two auctions ...

JP - these mystery auctions don't really worth it man ... usually the bids are driven by incentivitis and the final incentivizer does not pay for it because it it is waaay beyong what a logical person would spend on a domain he doesn't know about (and way way beyond the money a logical person would spent to satisfy the curiosity of which domain was it) . When they win they don't say "yeah , I won" they said "dung , I won" because they were not outbidded

when you say track this guy down , what do you mean ? if you mean track the winner to pay , then basically he has entered a contract but suing someone for a non-paying eBay auction might be costly and I don't know whether it would be successful ... especially if the winner does not have many funds ...
