What do you think about this eBay Auction that I just found?

FIRST THINGS FIRST PLEASE READ THE WHOLE AD BEFORE BIDDING, I ASK FOR SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY; IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO PAY THEN DON’T BID BECAUSE WHEN YOU BID YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT.

Feel free to contact me with any question’s you may have anytime, and I will get back with you as soon as possible.

BECOME A PART OF EBAY / DOMAIN NAME HISTORY WITH THE WORLD'S FIRST $2,000,000 MYSTERY DOMAIN AUCTION!!!

WHY A MYSTERY DOMAIN AUCTION?

THE #1 REASON, IT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. (BUT MANY WILL TRY AFTER THIS ONE)

MYSTERY AUCTIONS CAN BE FUN AND EXCITING!!!

MYSTERY DOMAIN AUCTION (M.D.A.) BECAUSE DOMAINS ARE THE NEW PREMIUM REAL ESTATE. HAVING A GREAT DOMAIN IS JUST LIKE HAVING A REAL ESTATE IN THE BUSIEST PART OF TOWN.

YOU COULD OPEN YOUR NEW BUSINESS.

YOU COULD USE THE REAL ESTATE TO EXPAND A BUSINESS.

ARE YOU COULD JUST KEEP IT UNTIL ALL THE LAND IS GONE THEN SELL IT.

ARE YOU COULD DEVELOP THE LAND AND THEN SELL.

ANYWAY YOU GET THE PICTURE.

BUT IF YOUR STILL NOT SURE ABOUT THE VALUE OF DOMAIN NAMES CHECK THESE SITES OUT.

DN JOURNAL
USA TODAY
THE WHIR
MSNBC
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

NOW THIS DOMAIN ALREADY HAS A HIGH MARKET VALUE BUT IT WILL SKYROCKET AFTER THIS AUCTION NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.

BECAUSE AGAIN THIS IS THE FIRST AUCTION OF IT'S KIND ON EBAY THE WORLD LARGEST ONLINE AUCTION.

AND WHEN PEOPLE HERE ABOUT YOU BUYING A DOMAIN NAME WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IT IS THE WORLD WILL TUNE IN AND REMEMBER THE DOMAIN NAME FOREVER.

AND TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WORLD TUNING IN WE HAVE PUT OUT A PRESS RELEASE FOR THIS AUCTION.
(THIS MAY BE THE FIRST TIME THAT A PRESS RELEASE HAS GONE OUT BEFORE ANYTHING IS SOLD)

THE WINNER OF THIS DOMAIN WILL BE THE HAPPIEST EBAY WINNER EVER!

NOW FOR THE DOMAIN NAME.

I HAVE A FEW THINGS I WELL TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR NEW DOMAIN

1. IT'S A VERY RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER TYPE OF DOMAIN NAME. A 3 LETTER DOMAIN NAME. GUARANTEED TO BE ALL LETTERS ARE YOUR MONEY BACK AND YOU KEEP THE DOMAIN.

LETTERS ONLY (THE ONLY NON LETTER YOU WILL SEE IS THE DOT)

2. IT HAS A VOWEL IN IT. (A, E, I, O, U)

3. AND MOST IMPORTANT WHEN GETTING A DOMAIN. CAN IT BE PRONOUNCED?
YES IT CAN AND PRONOUNCED AS A WORD (like saying RED dot whatever), NOT AS LETTERS.(ATW dot whatever)

TO TEST THIS I HAD MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND 8 YEAR OLD SON READ THE DOMAIN NAME, AND THEY BOTH HAD NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!!!

4. LAST THING IT'S GUARANTEED TO BE ONE OF THESE, .INFO, .NAME, .BIZ, .ORG, .NET, ARE YES .COM.

(COME ON IT'S A MYSTERY AUCTION I CAN'T TELL YOU WHICH ONE, BUT I BELIEVE YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY!)

(AND IF YOU KNOW LIKE I KNOW FINDING A 3 LETTER DOMAIN THAT HAS A VOWEL AND CAN BE SAID AS A WORD IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!) I THINK IT IS A THIS POINT.

ONE LAST THING

THERE IS BONUS CASH FOR SOME THAT BID AND DO NOT WIN.

BUT PLEASE BID TO WIN BECAUSE IT WOULD DO YOU MORE GOOD TO HAVE THE M.D.A.

I think that everyone in this thread, essentially, agrees w/ you and still thinks this is a bad idea, also. Maybe I missed something but, I don't think anyone is promoting the idea or has had anything good to say about this approach to selling domains or doing business, other than in jest.

A couple of theories on why anyone has bid on this auction have been suggested including buyers who aren't very smart and shill bidders.

The seller seems very fishy, so there could very well be some shill bidders, but I imagine most people are hoping to bid and get the cash prize, but not win the auction.

There are only a few different bidders, lots with little or no feedback, and a lot of bids on the amounts that get the prizes.

The seller's ID is 'getdoh', which sounds like 'get dough', which seems to explain the seller pretty well.

And Grrila: I like the logonyms in your signature. :)

I would never enter into this auction even if I was made of money. The way he writes everything in small caps, as well as all the grammatical errors and spelling errors really irritates me. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a sixteen year old trying to sell a domain like yar.name for $2 mil. Why would anyone take the gamble of one of these "mystery" auctions?

This is definitely going no where, especially since he won't even reveal the extensions or at least a hint. "You will be very happy" tells us nothing... seriously if he knew what he was talking about, he would say flat out that it was a .com (unless of course it really isn't).

I agree. The first thing I noticed when I started reading it was the unprofessionalism of it, including the gramatical errors, typos, and overall presentation of the ad.

If the domain was worth anyone looking at, he would tell everyone what it was. The fact that it could even be a .name should throw any serious potential buyers off.

But hey, it looks like he's sure getting his intended purpose. The bid is over $1000 (although what are the chances that anyone will pay?), and everyone is talking about it.

I wonder who's gonna bid for the $10,000 bonus

Take a look at the bid history - it's so obvious that nycmarketing ,spookyghost123 and the seller are in the same family and they try to help each others?

since spookyghost123 and nycmarketing accounts were opened on the same day of the the start of the auction , the chances for shill bidding or for bogus accounts for incentive-bidding (without fear of an unpaid strike , if another incentive-bidder doesn't outbid) rise exponentially ...

It's bollocks, I'm going to put in a sly $1M bid.

The auction is a joke and should be treated as one. :)

Between the strain that my tongue has been putting against my cheek and the chuckles, grins and giggles that I've had during my visits here, I don't know if my face can take this thread, anymore.

i hope italiandragon2005 doesnt win, because he is a domainer and it would be a shame for him to spend so much on something like a lll.name

Well I don't know who he is but I know exactly what his maximum bid is and it is considerably higher than the current of $6,100

He could end up paying for total shit. When will people ever learn??? :-/

It P/Os you off, doesn't it? You put good stuff out there from a solid base and it get's treated w/ indifference while idiots are flocking to see the dog and pony show that just rolled into town.

This auction is pointless because it is an illusion. Nevertheless, it exemplifies the same sort of B/S that goes on at Snapnames, Pool and the other major auction venues. You have a stable of good names comporable to or better than what is being offered in one of their auctions and you sit and watch as bidders, figuratively, kiss a name's a~~, because it has the aura of being a drop and is desirable because other people want it.

I seem to never get buyers who are hungry or stupid. My buyers always seem to be on the ball and end up being the kind folks who are ready to haggle over a $20 escrow fee or who want you to lower your asking price from $350 down to $315 or $290 or something that is, like a quarter of what the same names are selling for at Snapnames. Makes you crazy, sometimes. eeeyowww!

Absolutely mate.

I hope the arse selling gets buggered at the end. I am amazed some peeps will bid over $6K on a domain name that they do not know the name of (that is if the $6.1K was a legit bid.)

I popped a swift bid in for 1 million dollars and then retracted it, I have seen the highest bid and it is over $10K.

The world has officially gone mad, especially if some dude actually pays for it.

I am no domain name expert, I never have been and never will be but I feel that for a domain name to be worth over $5K it has to be a great one.

Just my tuppence of wisdom. :)

Be interesting to see what happens with this sale, the guy couldn't even be arsed to get spelling or punctuation sorted for his listing so I don't hold out much hope on what the domain name is going to be like. :-/

EDIT:

LMAO looking at highest bidder of $6.1K italiandragon2005s history on there (ebay) he usually spends between one and ten dollars on things he buys.

It must be his birthday or something. :)

It's funny because for over $10,000, you can buy a fairly good LLL.com. Why bother with the mystery at that point?!

Let's do some (easy) detective work :)

The sellers name is Kevin Liles and one of his sites is ebaygoogle_net He is also a member of several "Young Entrepreneur/Small Business ideas" type forums How do I know? He uses this name everywhere he posts.

Right click on his question mark logo in the ebay auction. It's hosted at imagecave under the user name Kevin Liles. OK, so go to Google and type it in but, that's a music producers name so no luck. Now try "kevinliles"...2nd search result is from "Young Entrepreneur Forums - View Profile: kevinliles" His logo there is from ebaygoogle_net

Get this: If you go to ebaygoogle_net and click on blog, he uses the same "PRESS RELEASE" and talks it up the same way.

Look at the other search results from Google: He uses this name everywhere so I'm sure in one of these posts, he mentions the domains he owns and you could probably find it there...

 The owner is probably watching this thread and handing out lots of negative rep - I got one for this thread for saying

That about sums it up for me too !

If you're watching - Kiss my *** :hehe:

There are a ton of these popping up now. One claims to be a 3 letter .com, its only at $300 now (just search for mystery domain).

I found another one like the original listing from this thread, but when I looked at their other items it's full of crappy domains for sale, including this

http://cgi.ebay.com/saveourhomefromeforclosure-com-DOMAIN-NAME-FOR-SALE_W0QQitemZ9740290179QQ

Saveourhomefromforeclosure.com

I thought about msging the seller and offering $100 for his wife, if they're that desperate :)

My. It looks like we've got a feisty group in here tonight.
One claims to be a 3 letter .com
Hmm... I wonder if letterletterletter.com, zedzedzed.com or doubleudoubleudoubleu.com would qualify.

There's only one kind of person who would be interested in a domain name like that.

So now eBay is the place to go if you are a scammer who is looking to buy a scammer domain name from another scammer.

Nice, eBay....nice!

The funny thing is that it's a misspelling. SaveOurHomeFromeForclosure*com. What a load of crap.

well the grilled cheese auction probably wasn't a bad deal as I can't tell you how many times I heard the companies name that bought it on the local Chicago news so that was a good publicity stunt or cheaper advertising on their part, I can recall a few other ebay auctions that were spammed all over the news where it was evident that the buyer was just looking for the publicity or smart marketing on their part, I don't think this mystery name has anywhere near the same publicity surrounding it so I doubt anyone will jump it up high enough to make the news, usually it's a crazy product like grilled cheese, haunted walking cane, etc... and not a domain name itself that gets the publicity from ebay on the news.
