"Huge" profits could be made only if you own "huge" value domain names. However, you can develop minisites and earn from adsense, or park your domains if they receive traffic, or develop sites and make a good seo work, increasing your traffic (and your revenues from ads), and in this way adding value to your domain name. Don't expect high profits, but at least they will have some added value.

If you have a good domain (ideally the best one you own) you may want to consider developing it into a full website/portal rather than building minisites on many domains. I wonder what other NPers think about this solution.

I will keep this things in mind. i think that the domain names who represent your business and are short are the good ones. One can easily remember them and can navigate directly.

what else you suggest for making huge profits out of your domain names

keep reading and learning , there is an old saying 'you have to spend money to make money' and this applies to any new commer to this industry , the days of easy flips are gone , although the recent registration of camroulette.com and great sale three months later proves there can be exceptions to the rules ...... but not normally !

Buy quality aftermarket names and be patient i think

The odds are stacked against the majority of folks involved with domain name resales right now and I don't see much evidence of a rebound yet for the average person.

As for development, it's still business 101. Like any brick and mortar business, you are going to need a product or service to "sell" that people want. Curiously, many owner/developers seem to forget that. On top of that, depending on what you are offering, you have many competing sites, many of which are giving their product or service away for free. Long term, that's a losing proposition for everyone involved. Just look at some of the Yahoo services that have been discontinued or the problem in monitizing Youtube, Facebook, etc. Sure, they are making money off of ads, but evidently not enough to justify the cost basis or price paid relative to income.

Users are getting sick and tired of parked pages and will eventually get sick and tired of Google ads.
Evidence is in the numbers.

The internet provides an amazing opportunity for the underdog, but its use as a successful business platform has to be approached realistically.

Simple, buy a great name for a 'low' price, and sell it for a high price! Thus you can make a 'huge' profit with the 'buy low, sell high' theory!

Reading and learning from others here, and their good and bad experiences, can also help.

buy low sell high is fine, providing you can make your product valuable in the interim.

this is the golden egg part of the equation. most domains can become valueable if you can build them into a brand - the problem is that often the time, effort and money involved doesn't justify the return.

Getting domains that are easily developed into effective sites and get organic traffic is the way to go imho - it's also about the hardest thing to do in domaining!

Guys you are talking about huge profits ?

We are already doing huge profits on Domains !

Concider that:
You buy at 100 and sell at 150 so that is 150%
You reg at 7 and sell at 70 so that is 1000%

If that is no huge profit what is it then ?
Tell a stock broker your/our ROIs, and they tell you you are a dreamer.
;)

And as said, if you want to make lots of money:
it is said that the greatwall is constructed by bricks.
when you have amount of bricks you can make your own greatwall!

it seems many domainers want 1,000% profit these days , but agreed 50% is pretty good if you can keep doing it

Completely agree.
Consider most of common investments have 5-10% profit when you're lucky!
With domains it's frequently a ROI of at least 50% or even more, i would be REALLY happy if my domains would sell with a 25-30% ROI (return of investment). And sometimes they do ;)

my advice is to always stay on top of the news as an example bills before congress immigration is the next thing they will address it will mean regging a lot of domains to cover what finally passes but if you were sharp and regged names based on other bills the income would pay for the possibilities that might come out. I dont do any research on expiring names just what is on congresses agenda, I am a us citizen so others need to follow there countries agenda
