Do you think the buyer got a great deal here?
I personally thought it would go for much more.

Wondering if the buyer & seller are members here?

Pls share your thoughts on this.

Thanks!

....I think the seller got a hell of a deal. Let's face it that kind of return on an .info is fantastic to begin with.

Great deal for the buyer. Bad time to be selling a domain like that.
I am not sure how the seller is going to reinvest that $35K in something better than the name that was sold.

Well, it was first regged in 2002, if it was consistenly regged by one owner, that's a hell of a great ROI indeed!

Well probably he/she needed the money, I would definitely sell if I need the money.
But also like you said, it's gonna be hard to reinvest that money in something better then Dubai.info, which is a great premium 1 word generic.
Maybe hard to compete if the buyer plans on developing a website, since dubai.com is already a well established site about Dubai.

I own the following Dubai Domain:

DiscoverDubai.info

God, i hate it when people do that!!!

As mentioned above $35k on a .info regged in 2002 is fantastic ROI by any standards.

Congrats to both buyer and seller

No harm intended. I only was trying to build conversation around Dubai domains.
Please don't take this as a personal offense.

lexis, I don't think they took it as personal just disrespectful as it is basically spamming.

I think it represents further evidence of the .info tld continuing to enter the mainstream, and therefore business, conscious.

[I think that those of us that have a signature (like me) that has links to a business website, are also using this forum for our own means, as well as trying to contribute to the conversation. Use of large font size makes this intrusive, like an advert.

Enjoying the conversation so far.]

I agree with StoneRoses. Its a great ROI either way, and this is a typical case of "smart buying" and "smart selling". Its a nice 1 word .info, and being a tourist destination worldwide, i can see why the price got there. I find it so funny, almost unbelievable that you guys think $35K was a steal. Its just a good chunk of change IMO. Nice sale!

lol, what a bargain. Dubai is a developing city, I think in years to come this domain will be worth A LOT more.

Come on guys?...... This is an open forum for discussion as I didn't link to my site. As long as I have been at Nampros, I've respected the community and its members. And as many people can attest, I offer helpful tips rather than spam.

I've edited the post so that my domain does not show. Hopefully this helps.

Again, and hopefully I'll put this one to rest.... Apologies to StoneRoses and Adam. :notme:

Now to add to the Dubai discussion, I agree with SeanPreston in that the Dubai.info domain will surely double its value once the economy comes out of recession.

A sound solid buy, one of the few extensions where a good keyword geo almost ( not quite B-) ) compares with a .com.

Do you think its a solid buy for resale or just for development wot ?

This is one that I'm not sure what to think at the moment considering there has not been much enduser interest in even .coms so far :-/

.net went for about 18k a few years back and its still for sale now...and that gets more traffic by the looks of it.

Personally I see it as both, a hold for reseller down the line or potentially as a good buy for end user to despite the.com being developed- only requires a different approach/angle to make it work.

Dubai along with everywhere else is in the world malaise but generally downturns are generally much shorter than the boom times. Unlike Macau which relies solely on gambling and is currently in a state of collapse Dubai has many more things going for it- property, tourism, oil etc. Every developed country in the world is planning or already in the process of massive stimulus packages to get back on track.

I foresee about 9 months to one year before recovery becomes apparent, unfortunately many people will be out of work and thousands of companies and business will go to the wall in that time.

The ones that come through will be leaner cleaner and stronger :!:

And at the end of the day however you look at the use of domain names to stimulate a business with a web prescence is still in it's relative infancy.

I won't mention my exact name here but it is a 'more or less' developed DubaiXxxxxxxx.info which has a good Google rank for the 2 words. What I am seeing in the last couple of months is a steady increase in traffic and some nice paying Adsense clicks. I am encouraged enough to have some fresh content written and giving serious thought to offering some limited advertising space.

From what I am seeing with this site I feel that right now it was a fair deal for both parties.

With some decent development I feel the buyer could do quite well and the seller has some cash to make buys in a (IMHO unjustified) soft market.

I sort of wish I had that kind of $$$ to invest and was the new owner.
