Dropcatch (TurnCommerce) requires an unedited government-issue photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport photo, to participate in their auctions.

In the wrong hands, government-issued IDs can be used for identity theft, creating all kinds of nightmares.

Can TurnCommerce be trusted with this kind of information?

If you get alerts on your credit reports you would know immediately any attempts at fraud. I don’t like it but they are verifying identity to cut back on buyer fraud. It’s getting more common in life to have to prove who you are and your license is not exactly a private document like a SS number or bank info.
