well someone has ……….. india.guru
reg'd at gandi.net, no doubt :O

I was actually thinking about gurus last night when watching the movie Her. In the film people rely on OS's, virtual people, that help them though the day and in some ways are better than regular people. Can you imagine a world where people start registering a personalized .guru domain to facilitate communication with their OS? Sure that's unlikely, but some of these new gTLDs are going to take on a life of their own in ways we can't imagine.

A point 'so' overlooked. Limited visions can be so impairing to see 'what else can be?' .

So instead of massage pro we'll have massage guru and the world will take notice and really, really care a lot. Parked pages and sites are nothing new.

I think I'm going to be absolutely sick and tired of hearing/seeing the word "guru" in 3... 2... 1...

I have been told the movie 'her' is very good , the web will go many directions further down the road, we may lot live for the new gtld's but i really think some will gain traction, especially for starts ups …imo

@sdsinc, I think your view on new gTLDs is delusional, probably the aftereffect of too many marijuana domains floating around.

Anyway, let's rest this debate here itself and let others showcase their .GURU domains here. :music:
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are three other domains of mine:

Host .guru
Holidays .guru
Resorts .guru

Yawn. Learn from the veterans. We've been through .asia, .eu, .mobi, etc etc.

Save your money. Or put in 5% or less of your budget on these names.

Why do you compare the new gTLDs with .com.
All these new gTLDs have one purpose, to generate money! That's all.

you're gonna start hearing everyone claim "they are going to develop them" like with .mobi

with .mobi, i KNEW at the time like 95% of the people saying this were full of crap... they always worded it like, "im not selling but if a good enough offer came along........."

LOL

meanwhile, they would have hundreds or even 1,000+ .mobi saying "eventually im going to develop most of them"

yeah right. what sort of meaningful development can you do with that many domains..
You really hit the nail on the head with that post.

Also, IMO for "domainers" to buy into these TLDs and then 1 or 2 days later attempting to flip them on auction for thousands of dollars is just embarrassing.

:bah: :td: :bah:

Clearly you don't know mjnels history. Biggest .mobi homer from what I remember.

Or was playing it stupid to hype and cash out on his .mobi. Or perhaps he knows this time around there is no hype and no arbitrage opportunity.

Either way glad to see he's seen the light.

hmm, you must have not ever actually read my posts but saw what you wanted to see. lots of people did that back then.

i was in it for the quick flip and made no bones about it... although i admit i never thought prices would plummet to non-existent.

at one point i was picking up LLL mobi on the drop and in my sales thread i stated i think the price will continue to fall. it didnt matter.. people were paying money to register them regardless of what i thought... so if they're paying a registrar i'd rather them pay ME. simple as that. _\|/_

its no different than you selling your 1 character domains in random country codes... unless you're going to claim you "believe in them" theres nothing wrong with *just* selling domains. you dont necessarily have to attach "hopes and dreams" to your domain sales man... (i.e. "this will go up in value, act now!")

Just read: Guru Passes 20,000 Registrations: Now Has More Than .Travel & .Aero
http://www.thedomains.com/2014/02/08/guru-passes-20000-registrations-now-has-more-than-travel-aero/

But I have a question: did somebody keep GoDaddy's pre-registration price list for .guru (phrase 1, 2, 3…)? I did not print it and it can no longer be found on GoDaddy's site. I am not sure if they applied the same rate for all new gTLDs.

The reason for my question: I have noticed that somebody (apparently a domainer) registered a quite impressive number of .guru domain names in a very specific niche through GoDaddy on 2nd February (Landrush for .guru started on 5th February), and - for documentary purposes, since I am interested in that niche, though not very much in the extension itself - I would like to know how much he had to pay for those domain names on that day.

If anybody has kept the list, thank you for sharing it.

donuts.co are using the same pricing tiers the whole time.. starts at 12,000somthing at godiddly the first day of early access.. then 6,000something, then 3,000 something then 1,000some, then $600some and finally $190 the last 2-3 days.

sounds like the ones you're talking about were either $1,000 or $600something... heres the rollout of the donuts TLD tho might help you figure it out:

Thank you very much. I think that I have found the answer at last on that page:
http://www.thedomains.com/2013/12/1...tlds-with-6-levels-up-to-12569-99-per-domain/

This was the price scale:
Phase 1 – Starting at $12,569.99 Ends: Thursday, January 30, 2014 4:00 PM UTC
Phase 2 – Starting at $3,194.99 Ends: Friday, January 31, 2014 4:00 PM UTC
Phase 3 – Starting at $1,269.99 Ends: Saturday, February 01, 2014 4:00 PM UTC
Phase 4 – Starting at $719.99 Ends: Sunday, February 02, 2014 4:00 PM UTC
Phase 5 – Starting at $219.99 Ends: Wednesday, February 05, 2014 4:00 PM UTC

Thus it means the buyer had to pay more than $700 per domain name on that day.

---------- Post added at 05:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:55 PM ----------

No, I am wrong: since the $719.99 price ended on 2nd February 4:00 PM and the names were registered on that day past 6 PM, it means that he actually paid $219. Significantly more affordable (provided one thinks there is a market for those domain names, obviously...).

sounds right, cause on February 5th before 4PM UTC you could still register "early access" even at like 3:50PM UTC from what i understand.

so part of the 2nd, entire 3rd, entire 4th and some of the 5th you could get the $200some price.

by the way, enom is WAY cheaper. i know you're just trying to figure out the pricing at godiddly but ill note for anyone here enom is WAY cheaper.... on the last 3 days when godiddly is charging $799 for PRE-registrations you can register early access at enom for like $570

dynadot has good pricing too but enom is the best for donuts TLDs. its pointless to do a godaddy pre-reg when you can just use dynadot or enom and undercut everyone else.

Fair point mj:

But then again, my one letters consistently get low xxxx offers. After 8 years. Its a stable value. Sold one this week for xxxx. Payment just received.

Unlike .mobi which fell like a rock.

well.. theres lots of 1 character .domains available to hand register for low $xxx now

theyre not as short as "true" 1 character domains like you have but the 1 character thing will continue to get watered down at least in the short term. less rare... sell now, sell often.

P.S. you better still have that yellow ribbon i mailed you in 2007 or whenever it was... i cut it out of notebook paper and colored it myself with a hi-lighter marker..
