I am wondering if we are going to have a thread for each and every new extension :?

My list:

6
•••
That would be like 1000 threads?
And to what end?

Myself, I see no life, no future, for .guru.

Except of course for the hard core domainer or the newbie who gets sucked into wasting time and money.

I can't believe it exists at all. There are so few domains where that extension actually makes sense.

I bought businessdevelopment.guru. That's what I do for a living and thought it'd be helpful to hang my resume/credentials off the domain.

I sort of like .guru (not for reselling), but for experts who work in a certain field. I tried to buy a bunch of others but they were all gobbled up by other people, so there is definitely demand. The others were intended for hold and resale later. Weird that the only one I got was actually the one that I wanted for myself.

Maybe you should have also registered masterofcontradictions.guru

To me that's a long long-tail domain, but good luck with it.

Haha, I agree with you! I initially thought I could resell .guru's but then realized it wasn't a good idea. So lucky me that all the one's I wanted went to others. So now... my new position (yes contradicting my old one), is I'm not likely to bother with attempting more regs for these to resell. Funny how ones position can change after they don't get what they want.

As for my long long tail name, it's a niche name meant for people who are specifically searching for someone with business development experience. I don't need 100,000 monthly impressions. Just want it to show to the few recruiters or CEO's looking for someone with experience like this. For $40... it's worth a shot.

I think most of us are considering value in terms of a reselling standpoint. Any domain can be valuable with good development. If all else fails, just buy a .com domain and redirect it to your .guru one. That way you can give people a name with a regular extension but not lose any SEO work done for your main site.

I couldn't help myself, got Elite.Guru and Dinner.Guru. They are internet real estate and will have a use!

People who are laughing at new gTLDs will soon be laughing at themselves. There is no need to listen to people with negative outlook. I say new gTLDs are great and soon the prices of some long tail keyword .COMs will come crashing down when Google includes these new gTLDs in their search algorithm.

Domain sales data clearly shows that all domains that make sense sell well irrespective of their extensions. Looking at a few sales:

FR.cc sold for $50k
Call.me sold for $26k
Mortgage.asia sold for $23k

Consider this:
Why would a company buy InsuranceXyzAbc.com when it could simply buy Insurance.guru widening the scope of its business?

Some of new gTLDs greatly enhance the SEO value; ask youself:
How is a HealthGuru.com better than Health.Guru?
How is a FitnessGuru.com better than Fitness.Guru?

My shiny .GURU domains: :bah:

People who are laughing at new gTLDs will soon be laughing at themselves.
I was laughing when people were buying .mobi domains, .asia .tel .co .eu .xxx etc etc.
Right now I am laughing at the money you guys are burning ablaze. I mean, if you bought these domains for resale and not for development... good luck.

There is no need to listen to people with negative outlook.
Especially when they have some experience and know what they are talking about... Sometimes people need to take a stab to learn :)

This kind of thread is very familiar, we have one every time a new extension is launched you know ;)

I say new gTLDs are great and soon the prices of some long tail keyword .COMs will come crashing down when Google includes these new gTLDs in their search algorithm.
You believe that the value of domain sales is determined solely by SEO ?

Domain sales data clearly shows that all domains that make sense sell well irrespective of their extensions. Looking at a few sales:

FR.cc sold for $50k
Call.me sold for $26k
Mortgage.asia sold for $23k
You are quoting cherry-picked sales that are not representative.
You'll find flukes in almost every extension.
Have you had success selling .cc or .asia domains lately ?

Consider this:
Why would a company buy InsuranceXyzAbc.com when it could simply buy Insurance.guru widening the scope of its business?
Are you serious ? It's nothing more than a glorified domain hack. Besides, end user already have plenty of choice. A .pro or something else.
An insurance guru ? What kind of beast is that ? :O

I was laughing when people were buying .mobi domains, .asia .tel .co .eu .xxx etc etc.

You are entitled to your own opinion but you should check on the facts before discouraging others from finding new opportunity.

You burnt your fingers with .Mobi, .Asia, .Tel, .Eu gTLDs but were you buying the very best of them? Are you still in denial? :)

You are entitled to your own opinion but you should check on the facts before discouraging others from finding new opportunity.
There is no opportunity for you. The opportunity is for the registrars and the registries. You are at the end of the food chain.

Again, if you are buying .guru domains for resale you are out of luck. These names are nothing special at all, just vanity, and end users have plenty of choice when there are thousands of new extensions.
Everything you buy is uncontested stuff... that nobody else wanted. Not a premium price.

You burnt your fingers with .Mobi, .Asia, .Tel, .Eu gTLDs but were you buying the very best of them? Are you still in denial? :)
No I didn't buy any. Yet these domains look almost good when compared to .guru...
But history repeats itself always. Ignore history and you'll repeat the same mistakes. Or be smart and learn from the mistakes of others.

The very best of these mobi/asia/tel/eu have sold handsomely and I am not quoting 2-3 domains in isolation. Here are some sale stats (and I am still quoting only a few):
Again, these sales are isolated cases and not representative. Have you noticed you posted old sales because the hype has gone long ago. But there is always somebody left holding the bag...

@sdsinc, I think your view on new gTLDs is delusional, probably the aftereffect of too many marijuana domains floating around.

Anyway, let's rest this debate here itself and let others showcase their .GURU domains here. :music:

Here are three other domains of mine:

Host .guru
Holidays .guru
Resorts .guru
