I started in affiliate marketing as a publisher, which gave me some great experience in being an advertiser.
For those interested in earning revenue from lead signups (people filling out a form, and the affiliate getting a flat rate), dont always go for the top paying lead.
Example: I find the matchmaking area to be my best niche. There was a provider giving $4.50 per lead, which I thought was high (which is great for affiliates). As time went on though, the conversions were HORRIBLE. I went with a different provider which was $2/lead, and the conversions were amazing.
Lesson Learned: always alway always determine if the advertisers landing page will
A. convert
B. Suit your traffic.
I get a better overall payout on a $2/lead than I did with a $4.50
My two cents.
best of luck out there!
