Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

Domaining is all about Timing

Being in this business is all about timing and patience. Sometimes the timing is brilliant. You register a domain name and within weeks or even days an end-user comes a calling.

Sometimes its frustrating. Selling a domain name and just after completing the sale an offer comes in for substantially more. I can tell you - that hurts especially when the difference is to the tune of x,xxx.

sigh...

On the other hand, I once had some houses where I REALLY wished I had taken that first offer :)

Hardly the end of the world. But, disappointing regardless.

But it feels even sweeter when you're expecting to have to pay $15,000 for a name (Or more...), and the owner opens with a $2,000 offer and you get to negotiate from there! (This morning, praise be to the domain-name-gods!)

I like to watch google trends to see when new things are being searched and research them. Yesterday the motorola aura came out, I saw loads of searches being made and motorolaaura.com was available but now its not. I decided not to buy it as the trademark.

I sold a name to NPs member....three weeks later I got an offer 10Xs what I sold it for.
Soo much for my timing. I forwarded the offer to the new owner.
He said he wanted to keep and develop the name.
He didn't even want the offer info.

A) That tells me I let it go way too cheap
B) That NPs member gained a bit more of my respect
C) DOH !!!!! If only I had just waited a few more weeks.
D) I found satisfaction in that the name held such value with this NPs member. :great:

As long as you are a pro, it should happen to you.
After all it's the nature of dealing with other traders.

If timing is everything, why do NP's flood the market with domains for sale on every down day on Wall Street? Seems to be the worst case scenario of bad timing to me.

Well I sold my first .tv for $250 - I was so shocked to get an offer I just said 'yes' - afterwards I thought maybe I should have said 'not enough'
