Forgive me, I am a newbie with many questions.

My purpose here is to evaluate the efficacy of a domain related business, but I do not believe that I understand the domain, parking, pay per click and/or click through process, but would like to.

A little background: I own 1 domain with limited development.

Please weigh in on the following questions if you have some insight, thank you:

1. How does parking a Domain with a Parking Site ("PS") generate income for me?
-My understanding is that the PS takes my domain and puts a number of ads on the site. If someone lands on my page and clicks an ad, the PS gets paid. Then the PS pays me a portion of what they get.

2. How much content should I put on my Domain in order to generate traffic? (links or content, in order to trigger search engines to assign a better rank to my domain)

3. How much content should I put on my Domain in order to generate PPC (pay per click) revenue or CTR (click through revenue)?

4. What is the best parking site?

5. Does this really work?

6. Is it better to create Domain names or your own and develop some content or buy established domains?

- seems much cheaper to be creative and register my own Domains and put some content on it.

7. Domains with Dashes are plentiful. Why?

These are just a few of many questions, thank you for taking time to post any insight you may have.

Yeah you are right.

As much as you can. There is no limit.

3. How much content should I put on my Domain in order to generate PPC (pay per click) revenue or CTR (click through revenue)?

Content will bring traffic and Traffic will click the ads.

4. What is the best parking site?

You can look here for users reviews: Parking & Traffic Monetization

5. Does this really work?

Yeah with proper names it works :)

6. Is it better to create Domain names or your own and develop some content or buy established domains?

It depends on what talents you have.

7. Domains with Dashes are plentiful. Why?

Many people don't like it. :(

Yes, Nick has hit the nail on the head. To summarise a little more though, parking is generally for people who already have names which receive traffic, either from natural type-ins to the address bar, or from where a website used to exist on a domain. It negates the requirement to develop the domain, and is very quick and easy. Different parking providers work better for different names.
If you are going to develop domains into websites, you should try and have a domain that matches the content of your site as best you can, especially if you can relate it to a phrase/product or service that is regularly searched. Then add as much varied, unique content as you can, develop as best as you can, and promote the name through building links to it from other sites. If you do this, and add a PPC provider such as google adsense to the webpage, it should be more profitable than the domain alone would have been if it were parked.

If you are looking at domains to sell, I would do some serious market research (here!)- you will see very few domains that have any real value are unregistered; the only real opportunities in this area are when a new product/service or piece of news is released. Due to this, I would heavily recommend looking at buying better quality names, but don't start throwing money at anyone until you have read up on it a bit.

Best of luck!
Chris
