Own domain parking website or Sedo parking?

Hello, I am returning to domaining since '99 and my domains are currently with sedo.

My current self employed work involves great customer care, of which I believe is essential.

The only problem I find with domain parking is austerity of it. I would personally like to link the domain names to my website, where the prospective buyer can know the seller first (or does this matter?) and I can market the domain effectively.

I realise sedo parking can generate some pennies, but really how much depends on traffic obviously.

Anyway are there any domainers out there that have their own site selling or linking to a domain company? or are your domains listed with a domain company.

Thanks, Howard.

Realistically, you generally don't park at Sedo because of parking revenues.

It's for the exposure, and particularly these days with them encouraging buy-it-now listings through SedoMLS so that your domains get listed across multiple registrars.

But on the other hand, if you establish yourself, and become a "trusted" destination for aftermarket domains, then I suppose it could work to your benefit - and might result in sales of other similar domains that the buyer may not have through of.

Personally, I don't list all of my domains on a single portfolio site, I find end users generally don't like domainers, and showing them all of those domains at once will tell them precisely that.

So where do you list your domains RazorNF?

I use a mix of Sedo, Afternic, Snapnames, GoDaddy - it depends on what registrars the domains are at.

I been thinking since I have my own servers to create a Generic Parking Page for all. Should I go that route?

Thanks RazorNF, appreciate your words.

I guess at the end of the day we're selling a product and providing a service etc, and marketing the domains the right way should be a positive.

So have you had negative times with end users/buyers? I guess it's the avant garde nature of domain buying, thinking of the domain before the buyer etc?

Cheers, Howard.

i looked at your domains on your site and think that you shouldn't think about parking at all. Don't want to be rude but those 10 names should be developed to earn anything. Without development i see not even a dollar per month from parking

Sorry I don't understand you?

You can be rude or you can grammatically express yourself!

Your domain names won't earn anything from parking.
You must develop them to make money.
Are you here to discuss about grammar from non US citizens or are you here to talk about domain names?
How many languages do you speak?
I speak 4.

Gifted Domains is correct. The only domains worth parking are those that get major type-in traffic or have many back links. Many premium names only make a few dollars a month.

That can also get your domain blacklisted and you sent to jail for fraud. Parking companies are not stupid, if they see a large amount of traffic suddenly hitting a domain they will want to know where it is coming from.

This is very true. I normally buy my names and park them to see the traffic. I parked one not too long ago as soon as I registered it, and traffic was hammering it.

Sedo was all over that, lol.... ended up being that it was coming from signatures in emails from previous owner.

Can you honestly claim that proper SEO can be carried out on a parked domain?

I too am curious what this "legal" method is since parked pages are not indexed and driving traffic in any way is prohibited by most if not all parking companies.

It's impossible for any kind of SEO to get a parked page ranked in SERP's, forget generating traffic from it. Only possible way is to develop your domains or develop minisites on them.

See my signature for minisite dev service. We are still working on the site and haven't launched officially. Contact me for discounts and bulk orders or if you wanna ask anything. ;)

But creating good backlinks are allowed - but even that is not easily achievable since who would want to link to a parked page with a few ads links on it?

But you should still be careful because this is still against some parking companies ToS. Which they may, or may not, enforce.

Oh dear Gifted!! My original question does not touch on the revenues from parking, just the etiquette of selling a domain.

Anyway I am not going to get involved in immature banter with you. The question is specific and not just 'domain names'.

But I agree on the marketing aspect.

Cheers, Howard.
